SOUTH BEND — Anti-abortion activist Randall Terry was arrested at about 12:20 p.m. Friday on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

He was part of a demonstration against President Barack Obama’s upcoming appearance at the Catholic university. The protest involved baby carriages holding dolls covered in fake blood.

Terry, who has promised to protest until Obama’s May 17 scheduled appearance, had been issued a no trespass order by Notre Dame.

Security personnel placed Terry into a vehicle and drove him away.

Actually, I prefer the gorgeous, fully intact, ALIVE pictures of babies in the womb.

Some pro aborts actually believe that the ugly, torn up babies are an EXCUSE for abortion, they think the kids were deformed IN THE WOMB! (As dumb as that sounds, it is true!)

Think of it this way: The Nazis treated Jews like dirt, they were unwashed, lived in cramped quarters, kept in ragged clothes -— then the Nazis would say: “See, they are not LIKE us!” -—

We need people to RELATE to the baby in the womb, as they connected and related to the babies in THEIR own lives.

Anyway, though I do believe that the “pretty pictures” are more persuasive, I do NOT think it is MY job to dictate the method of communication that other people use, in this debate.

People do not CHANGE until they feel UNCOMFORTABLE -— Randall Terry and OR make people feel UNCOMFORTABLE, and that, of course, IS THE POINT of any real protest!

He is the one who is being divisive. His tactics have failed, whilst winning hearts and minds has shown to succeed.

I guess you prefer those against abortion just go lock-step into failure, rather than debate taking a successful path. Sorry, but some of us think that’s just plain wrong.

If Randall Terry were truly against abortion, he wouldn’t sabotage the efforts against Roe v. Wade, for example. He wouldn’t try to discredit the movement by irresponsible actions.

Randall is not any great wizard when it comes to legislative or political strategy.
I have had heated arguments with him, and many in his organization, over political strategy.

However, on the ND issue, Randall Terry deserves my support.

He deserves the support of all prolifers, in this current battle.

I agree!

The right does not WANT anyone to make a living, buy promoting OUR Causes -—

Then we wonder why nobody can afford to support OUR causes, on a full-time basis!

I'll be there for dinner...see you in a few.*

*Note to the illiterate: it's a rhetorical device, not any sort of harassment or intimidation or threat or whatever. Advocating the disrespect of property rights is a leftist push, and since Kansas58 has encouraged such disrespect of property rights, I was merely suggesting that it shouldn't be surprising or unwelcome to Kansas58 if uninvited guests were to show up.

Fair enough...I respect your support as sincere in support of a common goal of reducing/stopping abortions.

But I disagree with Randall Terry on both strategy and, in this case, tactics.

My church has a pro-life display, and among some of the most convincing items are the life size replicas of unborn babies at different ages. My kids pick them up and learn to appreciate life.

There is no reason why any one of us needs to “decide” how to fight this battle, on the front lines.

Each of us must do what we are CALLED to do.

I know for a fact that Randal Terry and Operation Rescue are responsible for turning away thousands, nationwide, from the gates of the abortion clinics.

Literally thousands of kids are alive today, due DIRECTLY to his efforts.

Again, OR and Randall are OFTEN wrong on the legislative and political strategy front, but on the ND issue, he deserves our support.

Those protesting Randall Terry have probably never been involved in a SUCCESSFUL protest.Be nice nice and no one pays attention.

Actually, I have converted former pro-abortion-choice protestors into joining and volunteering for a pro-life group.

And it wasn't my stunning good looks that did it...it was the rational approach and conveying of facts to replace falsehoods.

I don’t mind him making money from protesting—if he didn’t work directly for job security by sabotaging the fight against Roe v. Wade, for example.

He’s got little moral high ground and should restrict himself to where he helps the cause. If that doesn’t generate enough funds, or if we win the battle, putting him out of work, then he should find something else to do.

You are being very silly.

ND is a UNIVERSITY that enjoys a tax exempt status as a teaching institution.

ND, through Judas Fr. Jenkins has claimed that bringing Obama onto the grounds of ND could be used as a way to spark “dialog” and “debate” on the life issues.

Then Jenkins says that Randall Terry is NOT allowed on campus?

EVERY Catholic should now respond to ND that their ND fund raising letters and fund raising phone calls are NOT ALLOWED in our homes.

EVERY Catholic should now tell their Bishop and their Priest that ND is NOT a “Catholic” Institution and that ND does NOT deserve our respect, our financial support, or the minds of our kids.

You are not a conservative.

You obviously do not support the right to life.

You obviously do not support the 1st Amendment.

You obviously have a very strange view of “property rights” -—

If you have paid four years of tuition, have studied hard to pass your courses, and have earned your degree, you think that it’s any clown’s “right” to turn your graduation ceremony on a private campus into a “circus,” as Randall Terry said he planned?

Your argument sounds a lot like the leftists who claim that military research grants or ROTC programs allow them to disrupt universities. I think my view is a lot more in line with actual property rights than yours.

BTW, I support the right to life more strongly than you, as I support it fully, including its corresponding freedoms.

YES
I DO!

Graduation is a very passing thing.

It is a day.

In the words of a good Priest: A Wedding is a Day, a Marriage SHOULD BE a LIFETIME!

Take the analogy further: A graduation is a DAY, CATHOLIC EDUCATION should support LIFE!

Your concerns are TRIVIAL compared to the travesty that Fr. Jenkins and Notre Dame have become.

You are silly.

What would you think of a “Catholic” University that gave an “honorary degree” to:

Stalin?
Hitler?
Pol Pot leaders?
David Duke?

Again, your concerns are trivial.

You show cowardice, in the very face of evil, and you will only invite MORE evil!

Whatever small sacrifice we ask, of the good, decent people at ND is small and trivial compared to the HUGE sacrifice we ask of our military, every day.

The issues at stake, in this battle, are EVERY BIT as important as anything our military fights for, every day.

Also, the DETERENT effect, of this protest, might well stop other “Catholic” Universities from considering similar treachery.

The LEFT is busy urinating and spitting on me, while I wait in a ditch, for them to shoot me -—

And you want me to show the left some -—

“respect”?

Our very survival is at stake, and you want to play “miss manners” -— you are a very silly person.

There are a lot of ‘activists’ who (I think) season their altruism with a dash of selfishness. Consider what Wayne LaPierre would do if the NRA were to win the whole ball of wax and have the Supreme Court declare ALL gun regulation unconstitutional. He’d have to register for unemployment insurance and end up flipping hamburgers somewhere.

I once jumped out into the forefront of a campaign against a particular public works project. I had a vested interest in the project since I was actively working on it. When public opinion finally turned against the job I suddenly found myself without a job. fortunately, I wasn’t tied to any specialized field nor did I have a lot of debts, so I picked up my marbles and moved. I can tell you though, it’s not easy to cut your own throat.

Pushing for the states to decide the question of abortion is not pro-life. It's federalist. It's a step in the right direction, but banning abortion in all fifty states with a federal amendment is a an even bigger step in the right direction. Randall does not oppose overturning Roe v. Wade, but you clearly oppose banning abortion in all fifty states, therefore, you are on sabotaging and dividing the pro-life movement, not him.
