On days I am not going anywhere (1-2 times a week) I just thoroughly run water through my hair. 3-4 times a week, I use conditioner only : Cut with water and 'frothed up' first (it 'feels like' it's being shampooed then-psychological thing. Then once a week I use a gentle (so called "daily") clarifying shampoo , mainly to remove styling product build up.
Since I started this, my oily roots have dried up and my dry ends have become much less brittle or "crunchy" (I am growing out a perm). The appearance, texture, and yes, scent of my hair is much improved.
I just wish I'd done this years ago-I think hair needs to be washed daily, but it does NOT need to be washed with a bunch of harsh chemicals.

First of all, Harry, when he's not deployed, probably sees a barber on a two-weekly, if not weekly basis - both his military service in the Blues and Royals, and his official role, require him to be well groomed, and except when he's out on the town socialising with friends, he is generally well turned out. Even if he truly doesn't wash his hair himself, the barber will be doing something to deal with any issues. Secondly, this is a report that originally came from The Daily Mirror, a sensationalist tabloid - I wouldn't necessarily assume anything they print about the Royal family is true and accurate. Thirdly, Harry is still a rather young man, though he has matured a lot over the last couple of years, and while he has occasionally made some very unwise decisions those were down to lack of maturity, not lack of intellect.

Oh you won't, but its important to realise that those effects - the itchy scalp, the tangled hair, etc - are a byproduct of the constant washing with harsh detergents. This is because the shampoo, while cleaning your hair, also gets rid of the natural compounds your hair is producing. In effect, the heavy use of shampoo and conditioner means that you have to use even more shampoo and conditioner! If you stopped using shampoo your scalp would itch but the effect would go away in a week or so as the natural compounds were replaced.

We are all of us individuals. We are not robots. People’s hair is different, in the same way that their eyes are different colors and their fingerprints are unique. If you have particularly oily hair or particularly long hair then you will have to take slightly different steps to address that. When I was younger I suffered from dandruff. I used an anti-dandruff shampoo for a few weeks and the problem went away.
The point I am trying to make is that many of these problems are actually caused by the chemicals that we are being told are essential for “naturaler, more full-bodied hair” (or whatever slogan Vidal Sassoon et al are using at the moment. The logical reply is why do you need artifical chemicals to be more “natural”?) Anyway, I dont know exactly what your particular situation is Raybbr, but I would suspect that using less shampoo/conditioner rather than more would go a long way toward solving an oily hair problem. Hair care is one of those things where less can definitely be more.
I might try it - if I can put up with the itchy scalp. I don’t recall doing a lot of itching back in the 50s.
Try using vinegar and water for your final rinse.
It totally eliminates any shampoo residue and makes it shiny and soft.
The best thing for “dandruff” is an aspirin and a zinc tablet smashed up, dissolved in water and used as a rinse.

The critter had furunculosis [very deep staph-infected channels under the skin] and the “aspirin shampoo” every day for a week totally cured it.
It's the salicylic acid in the aspirin.

I heard a guy say all his male relatives are near or bald but he didn’t use shampoo which allows him to keep his hair?
Guess I could wear a gas mask while using it...
There are many theories as to baldness: wear hats, dont wear hats, dont use such a shampoo, rub your scalp, etc etc.
Unfortunately, its all down to genetics and hormones. Unless you want to take testosterone suppressants, you are gonna get bald if you got the genes :(
I wonder if he’ll auction off hair washing sessions to raise funds for his charities. Like let women bid on it on an online auction, like Ebay.
