Really? Someone has written that the government needs to prosecute Opie, and destroy every copy of the film? I must have missed that post...
I also missed the ones calling of folks to murder Opie & Brown.
Please don’t use words you don’t understand. Censorship includes the power to stop publication. These folks are merely claiming that Opie & Brown ought to exercise JUDGMENT, and remind others that the movie includes a background of attacks against the Catholic Church.
In a free market, expressing those ideas is completely acceptable.

Indeed, look at some of the recent epics like 300, Troy, or Kingdom of Heaven. Why aren’t Catholics banding together with like-minded folks in Hollywood (Mel Gibson?) to produce an epic about David, or Jan Sobieski, or re-make The 10 Commandments with lots of cool computer graphics and such? Or maybe Constantine II, just a modern film of simple Good v. Evil (like The Devil’s Advocate)?
As they talked about the book they discussed the possible truth behind the book and how it would change the world. They both spoke as if they were educated and both seem to be college educated.
In my travels this was not the last time I overheard people sitting next to me discussing the book. What is learned it people believe this crap book hook, line, and sinker. This book and story is propaganda light. With the cult of personality, people begin to believe their false Hollywood idols. The phony story starts to replace truth in the minds of people.
It not about "burning at the stake". It is about turning away from God with a lie. You can quit with your silly and stupid libertarian statements any day now.

The guy who wrote “A Skeleton In God’s Closet”, Paul Maier, also co-wrote wrote “the DaVinci Code: Fact or Fiction?”, which supposedly rebuts the actual DaVinci Code. I take it he is some sorta Christian who readily admits his Jesus skeleton book is speculative fiction.
Why do you suppose he wrote a book refuting the D. Code? Do you think it might have something to do with the fact that lotsa folks are believing the D. Code because Dan Brown claims it is all true?

I also saw The Last Temptation of Christ, but that did nothing to diminish my beliefs either.
I saw "The Passion of the Christ" with a Jewish friend, and she didn't feel attacked. Nor did I feel as if my beliefs increased.
I have both seen and performed in theater productions of "Godspell" and "Jesus Christ Superstar"(I played Herod), without being negatively affected.
It is just a movie. If my beliefs are strong, and my faith is strong, a simple movie — a work of FICTION — should not destroy it one iota.

A disclaimer about a "belief" is not honesty. It's an opinion. A point of view. Don't strain yourself trying to understand that.
I’m not Catholic so maybe, I don’t understand all the hoopla over DaVinci Code, but it one of the dullest “thrillers” I ever watched. Predictible in the first 30 minutes on the “suprise” ending. And did Tom Hanks ever act worse in a film. Monotone throughout or did he have a cold??

Quite the contrary... The announcer introduces the Tom Hanks character: “He exposed one of the greatest coverups in human history.”

We’ve heard that excuse before. The “It’s just a movie” excuse sounds oddly similar to the “I vas just following orders” excuse.
Bottom line, propaganda IS propaganda. And the Hollyweirdos have always been excellent at spreading anti-God, anti-Christian, as well as anti-American propaganda.
As Christians, we’re supposed to pray for their enlightenment and their souls to be saved. After all, God could and would save every last one of them if they would only “ask” him to. But I must confess that I’m not that good of a Christian. I am convinced that, unless the pitt of Hell was looming in front of them, they, the Hollyweird anti-Christians, would continue to renounce God and Christianity and would continue to DENOUNCE God instead....as they have been doing for decades now.
Personally, I hope they rot in the Hell they don’t believe in....

I've read it. Interesting book. It seems to make a lot of people say really silly things, though.
