Why black folks loved the first 100 days (barf)

On April 27, The New York Times reported that the percentage of black Americans who believe race relations in America are generally good has doubled since July. This statistic forces me to ask: Why are African-Americans feeling so good about our country in a time of economic crisis and international conflict?

It is not just the fact of a black president. Instead, with everyone analyzing the 100-day mark of Barack Obama's administration, I think the answer lies in understanding this historic moment through a black cultural lens. I believe African-Americans are feeling racially optimistic because they respect how our first brother president is handling his business. Not all black people, of course; there is a group clamoring for “accountability.” But the polls are clear that most black people remain enthusiastic supporters of this president.

In January, Obama kicked things off with the ultimate political party. African-Americans stood with numb fingers and toes on the National Mall to watch a day we never thought would come. Obama had Mary J. Blige singing on the weekend, Aretha in her Sunday-going-to-meeting-hat celebrating on Tuesday morning, and Beyonce serenading on Tuesday night. It was an unrivaled R&B trifecta, challenging even the Essence festival.

But the best part of Jan. 20 was that Barack and Michelle got out of the bulletproof, black Cadillac and walked the streets . . . and no one shot at them. I know we are not allowed to say it, but one reason black people believe that race relations have improved in America is because Barack Obama lived through the primaries, the election, the inauguration and now through 100 days.

Also blacks have to realized that it was the white people who actually put Obama into office. Even with 100% of the black vote which makes up between 12 and 15% max of the population, that isn't enough votes unless a whole lot of whites voted for him.

Various callers (black) to radio talk-shows are of the opinion that the reason white people don't like Barry is that he is black.

They don't seem capable of getting past skin color to address things like redistribution of wealth, apologizing for America's foreign policies, his executive inexperience, and the corrupt Chicago social network from which he sprang.

I personally can't stand him for his gun-grabbing mentality which is shared by many white liberals who I can't stand either. I seriously doubt my disgust for the likes of Feinstein and Schumer would increase were they to rub shoe polish on their faces. Yet, according to some, this would no-doubt increase their popularity in 'da hood'.

Paul declares that it is not the gradual disappearance of truth that brings on the day of the antichrist. Rather it is the love of the truth that dies. To wit; “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” (2 Thess 2:9-10)

Unfortunately what follows the death of the love of truth is delusion. What follows delusion is the death of decency, democracy and nationhood. Paul said “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:” (2Thess 2:11)

This theological principle is perhaps the most shocking revelation in the bible. We think of all deception as coming from the ‘arch deceiver’ or Satan but never from God. The key to this enigma is simple. If the love of the truth is abandoned then God will no longer offer the truth. He will pull back the restraints so to speak and allow the flood gates of error, deceit and flagrant falsehood to fly wide open and it will come in with a vengeance.

oh.
my.
God.

I don't think it's possible for a white person in 2009 to say anything more racist about black people than this stark statement -- about whites, let's agree on that right now -- that whites were driven so completely, foaming-at-the-mouth insane by the election that it was a certainty that somebody -- and probably more than one -- would try to assassinate Obama within minutes of his appearing in public on Inauguration day.

Leroy and his wife go to the San Leon Primitive Baptist Church revival and listen to the preacher. After a while the preacher asks anyone with needs to be prayed over to come forward to the front at the altar.

Leroy gets in line, and when it's his turn, the preacher asks: "Leroy, what do you want me to pray about for you?" Leroy replies: "Preacher, I needs you to pray for my hearing."

The preacher puts one finger in Leroy's ear, and he places the other hand on top of Leroy's head and prays and prays and prays. He prays a blue streak for Leroy. After a few minutes, the preacher removes his hands, stands back and asks, "Leroy, how is your hearing now?"

Leroy says, "I don't know, Reverend, it ain't till next Wednesday."

Just adding a little humor into the mix!

White people are now the oppressed...

True, but it's not blacks who are doing the oppression, its hollywood and the MSM. Riots against hollywood and the MSM would be well deserved, but will never happen.

"Black" Americans, looking through a "black" cultural lens ... sounds great!

"White" Americans, looking through a "white" cultural lens ... sounds racist as hell!

Black people are wearing rose colored glasses. I think it should be obvious that Obama is setting race relations back one hundred years. The fact that white people don’t go around preaching hatred for black people does not alter the fact that black leaders DO go around preaching hatred for white people.

White people are now the oppressed but there is a huge effort to pretend that we are still in the fifties when it was the other way around. At the current rate we will soon see public drinking fountains with “no whites” signs over them.

I am flameproof so anyone who wants to turn on me can feel welcome.

I'm the same way, I'm flameproof too. In a way, Obama is like the atonement of real and perceived injustices, a Black Man (well, OK, 12.5% Black, according to some sources, but he "looks" Black and would be considered an "octaroon" in the ante-bellum South along with following the "one drop rule" so he would be considered Black by both sides of the issue) can become President, by hook or crook, most likely the latter, but he did it. I hate to add to the messiah thing, but like Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, Obama is the sacrament of the racist religion that a Black Man can be President. That in so being, I feel we can and should discuss race and race relations openly and point out the problems we have in an open matter and discuss them instead of being hush hush about it. Otherwise if we don't deal with it openly, things will explode, heck, they can explode anyways, Obama is a Marxist, that is enough to cause it IMHO.

I cannot sweep this under the rug either, but since the immaculation as President, traffic in websites like Stormfront and others have shot up, IIRC, the Stormfront server was knocked offline for a while. I think a lot of people are running so scared, they are looking for "any port in the storm" and going to such a site is a huge mistake butr when you put fear in the equation, that opens up to people making faulty decisions and getting into trouble with the wrong crowd.

I do not object to a man being President because he is Black, heck, I voted for Alan Keyes in the 2000 Primary and still believe to this day that he was the better choice of G. W. Bush. I would also take Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams as well.

The decent black folks who played by the rules and did well for themselves are going to be slammed just as hard as the rest of us. Too bad, but entirely fair.

He is only half black, so they should only be half satisfied. (ok, it had to said)

The old racist "one drop" rule strikes again.

My significant other is darker than this woman. Of course, she comes from a country where they government classfies her as “Parda” (along with 45% of the Brazilian population), and where Obama would NOT be considered black (in Brazil, you basically have to look like Wesley Snipes to be considered black).

That’s a myth. Obama is half LUO, which last I checked is a black African ethnic group, who didn’t mix much with the Arab traders. This “Obama is an Arab” belief is a product of inboxers and tin-foil philosophes.

Thanks, didn't know about LUO....so I looked it up:

The Luo are a family of ethnolinguistically affiliated ethnic groups located in an area that stretches from Southern Sudan, through northern Uganda and eastern Congo (DRC), into western Kenya, and ending in the upper tip of Tanzania.

I assume the “ethnolinguistically affiliated” means: an Arican trib that relies on the teleprompter...” :-)

Well since the election I’ve decided to hold blacks to the same standard that I hold whites to....and for the most part, I’ve found that I receive less customer service from blacks in retail, more errors or mistakes when making change, more rudeness, less professionalism, etc.

Don’t rule out the possibility if you haven’t tried it. Maybe the next “Tea Party” event should directly target the media.
