Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch believes the president has used code words indicating he wants to appoint an activist to the Supreme Court, who will push a liberal agenda

Gee Hatch you think a that a Socialist President that is pushing a far left liberal agenda on a daily basis would possibly appoint a activist judge to help him push that socialist agenda?
This statement from Hatch is further proof that the curent Republicans in office just do not get it....

Hatch knows we are ready to throw him out the hatch.

He finds his voice out of fear and not out of conviction.

Only a moment of analysis...but Souter timed this entire event. He could have announced his retirement last summer, but didn’t want the Bush White House involved in the pick. He could have announced this in January, but with so much Wall Street stuff going on...waited patiently. So we have this quiet period in May, June and July...which works well for the President and the Senate.

They’ve known for at least a year that he was going to retire. And they likely have a list of twenty appropriate people already checked and reviewed. There are no surprises here.

As for payback later...once the new person is sitting on the court, and proves to be an extremist on their views...whenever decisions are made 5-4 against the progressive side....the chief justice can select the new extremist to write the opinion....and fairly publicize the view that probably all other eight disagree with in some fashion.

-- With the Dems having a filibuster-proof majority, there is nothing much the Republicans can do about it. --

Most of the GOP Senators are going to vote with the DEMs in support of the nomination anyway. No sense in grousing about it.

I've had it up to "here" [holding hands above head] with the GOP. All they do is talk a good game. When it comes to voting, they are big-government fascists. Screw 'em.

True. But they can raise a controversy and discussion. They don’t have to use the rubber stamp as they have been for every one of his nominees that have been confirmed so far.

The only person on the list of potentials that isn’t activist is Leah Ward Sears.

Really, I don’t understand why she is on there with the exception of being a black woman who is a state chief justice. She seems way too conservative for him.

I like her, however, and hope he picks her over the other ones that aren’t palatable at all.

In the courtroom, empathy for one person implies antipathy to another. What he means by “empathy” is taking sides, the opposite of justice.

“or African-American,”

Well let’s see- you can be President, Secretary of Stare, a four-star general, a Supreme Court Justice, a sports and entertainment superstar, a style trendsetter, you can attend any college you want and have any career you desire-you’d have to be a real bonehead to waste all that opportunity stealing cars and smoking crack.....

“What he means by “empathy” is taking sides, the opposite of justice.”

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head. People should be very concerned — remember this will be just the first of several of Obama’s judicial picks — he will be nominating many Federal judges, in addition to several for the SCOTUS. We will have no place to go for justice.

Orrin, quit worrying about the Marxist usurper’s code words and start twisting Sen. Grahamnesty’s ear.

Statistics to post 32:

One third, (11) posts criticizing Hatch, only two thirds comment on Obama’s outrageous plan to pick a justice who will ignore the law and Constitution.

Until conservatives will start to focus on the Democrats, instead of playing circular firing squad, the Dems will stay in power and destroy the country we knew and love.

“I don’t think there’s anything “code” about it.”

Well, and Hatch didn’t, either. You find me the point where Obama used the word code “code” anywhere. It’s not there. This is the Salt Lake City Tribute attempting to paint Hatch as an extremist/conspiracy theorist and to direct attention away from what is being said.

The leftist bent to this piece is one of the more egregious examples of media bias I’ve seen as of late.

The libs are already raving that Republicans are going to “obstruct”. What a bunch of clueless, pantywaists...WHAT on Obama’s agenda have Republicans “obstructed”?

My kingdom for a Republican to really obstruct!

What code? He said it all before the election. He wants touchy-feely judges. Anybody who didn’t know that just wasn’t paying attention. All I hope for at this point is competent.

None of the House Republicans and Republican Senators ( with the exception of the 3 RINOs) voted for the Porkulus bill, it passed anyway. Don’t blame the Republcians, the Dem majority is enough to steamroll over them.

And until conservatives will realize that the answer is to elect more Republicans, instead of sulking at home, because Republicans aren’t conservative enough, the Democrats will maintain and extend their power. This all started in 2006.
