The British government published its persona non grata list Tuesday, for the first time ever.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, the list names 22 individuals who the authorities will not allow in the country. It consists of Islamic extremists, white supremacists and even one US radio personality.
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith told the BBC that coming to the UK should be a privilege. Since taking office, Smith has toughened the entry criteria to the UK.
Granting free speech, she said, "does not provide a license to preach hatred those banned have clearly overstepped the mark with the attitudes they had expressed. (Naming them) enables people to see the sorts of unacceptable behavior we are not willing to have in this country.
"Coming to this country is a privilege. We won't allow people into this country who are going to propagate the sort of views... that fundamentally go against our values."
Among those declared persona non grata are Hamas official Yunis al-Astal, Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar and Jewish extremist Mike Guzovsky, as well as US radical Baptist minister Fred Waldron Phelps and two leaders of a violent Russian skinhead gang, ex-Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard Stephen 'Don' Black and neo-Nazi Erich Gliebe.
US radio talk show host Michael Savage was also named. Savage's views on immigration, Islam, rape and autism have been slammed as highly offensive even in the US.

I wonder though, has Michael Savage ever tried to go to the UK in the first place ?
Fred Phelps though, they're right there. I don't want him in the US either.
I don’t do Michael Savage, but to rate him in the same category as the others is just “a tad” extreme.
Of course, I think the UK would put the majority of FReepers on the persona non grata list if they could.
So I wonder if they have him listed as “Michael Savage” or “Michael Weiner” (his real name).
Perhaps they should include Homeland Security's Rightwing Extremist document.........
Given time, the Islamic immigrants will declare the Brittish persona-non-grata....fools....
Quite so. Convert, dhimmi or die.
The use his full name and parenthetically his radio persona.
Good for the ratings.....something else for Weiner to whine about....should be a corker of a show tonight.
I notice number 21 is a Laz A. Mataz, hometown unknown.
They left BHO off the list...but then again with the gifts(Ipods, DVDs) he brings them...I guess they’d hate to lose that.
That’s just ridiculous! Good grief!
Savage's views on ... autism have been slammed as highly offensive even in the US.
Idiots. Wait, make that "Autistic idiots."
One upside to slamming idiots is that they aren't offended, because their brain capacity doesn't grok the slam.
They've got Islamic preachers who have been advocating killing Jews and such, as well as some of them who've gotten deep into the bag of advocating on behalf of Islamofascist terrorists. They want to ban them from UK. But they want to seem even handed.
Br'r Savage is conveniently Jewish, so onto the list he goes. Now as nasty as he might talk about others I do not recall there ever being an issue regarding his calling for his followers to kill innocent people.
So, to get balance, the UK's travel czar puts one Jew up against 8 Islamofascists, 3 European fascists and 2 Al Gore supporters from Kansas.
And they say they don't need to lock up schizophrenics anymore ~ that the medicines are good.
You got that right. The British are just trying to soften the landing of the coming Islamic Caliphate which they have no guts to oppose.
I suppose those who work for and get thanked by Zero get iTune prepaid cards are something. What a classy guy.
Is Yoko Ono on it?
He is listed, I read another article that included him.
What ever happened to diversity?
Let’s see, have Savage and Phelps killed innocent people? NO.
How bout Castro, his gangster brother, Ortega, Chavez, Mugabe, etc? None of these are on the list, but let a radio talker and a queer hater be placed above mass murderers as threats. The UK is sick and getting sicker.
If they are excluding him because of charges that have been brought against him, I can agree. But if it is simply because of his viewpoints that is simply wrong.
