Bailouts for newspapers. Now THAT’S a joke. A real big joke...on us.
I’ve always dreamed of subsidizing newspapers, especially The Boston Globe.
Ugh.
“The history of our Republic is inextricably linked to the narrative of our free and independent press. ... America’s newspapers are struggling just to stay afloat. I called this hearing to directly address a problem that for too long has had us turning the other way. Whatever the model for the future, we must do all we can to ensure a diverse and independent news media endures.”
Translation - govt. to bail out DNC mouthpieces.

The Times is Mad as Hell and ... Well?
Hmmm.... So Lurch is the Rat designated savior and the Globe is the designated savee. That is, perhaps the negotiations are real enough to provoke a national cause requiring Senate and ultimately government intervention to yet another business.
The action is but the swirl of America going down the drain

Liberal bias isn’t killing newspapers
Boston Globe ^ | May 6, 2009 | Jeff Jacoby
OK. You got it.
Can't guarantee if the position will be paid or unpaid.
But, you folks have got a job.
. . . in exchange for being pro-Obama, pro-statist, pro-Democrat propaganda 24/7/365.
I guess he means like PBS and we all now how unbiased they are.
Its a shame we have neither.
They still can’t force anybody to buy them.
Pravda must be saved.
Pray for America
Sen Kerry will hold a “hearing” so the perps of PRAVDA of the WEST can sob out their tales of woe. But the question is what will he NOT hear? Easy..listen to the voice of the people who think for themselves....
I will NOT be lied to.
I will NOT have my intelligence insulted any longer.
I will NOT waste my time reading drivel that is posed as NEWS.
I will NOT allow deeply opinionated “journalists” to corrupt my thinking.
I will NOT accept as accurate a “news Coverage” so slanted politically that it defies gravity itself.
I will NOT waste my MONEY (hard earned as it is) on newspapers that today bring shame on the very word ‘newspaper’.
What I will do is take the time to search out NEWS that is the actually NEWS as it occurs. I will take the time to search out opinions, that even if I disagree, do NOT insult my beliefs, my country, my religion, and my intelligence.
My word to all too much of the “Newspaper Industry”
YOU ARE FIRED!!! GO AWAY
Advocacy Propaganda & Character Assassination of your ideological opponents are now taught by tenured 60's hippies running most all Schools of Journalism APCA!
Oh my, the Mailer's Union sure won't be liking this. Where's the equality? Where's the sacrifice. :o)
"Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry knows firsthand how uncertain the future of newspapers may be."
Say.
Word on the street is this guy served in Viet Nam.
"When he announced the hearing, Kerry said, 'The history of our Republic is inextricably linked to the narrative of our free and independent press'..."
To say *nothing* of America's Democrat Party, eh Jack? ;^)
"Whatever the model for the future, we must do all we can to ensure a diverse and independent news media endures."
Any fool stupid enough to be close to this gasbag had better damned well be outfitted with electrical insulators.
"Cardin will speak at Wednesday's Senate subcommittee hearing, as will: * Marissa Mayer Vice president, search products & user experience Google Inc. * Alberto Ibargüen President and CEO The Knight Foundation * David Simon Author, TV producer and former newspaperman * Steve Coll Former managing editor The Washington Post * James Moroney Publisher and CEO The Dallas Morning News * Arianna Huffington Co-founder and editor-in-chief The Huffington Post."
And just look at that guest list.
No Jeb. No Mitt. No Powell. No McLame *and* no Megan?
Well, that'll be no fun. ;^)
Bet that guy has no fingernails or hair left.
Johnny? This is Pinch. How do we pay Slim this month?
Refresh my memory, who is John Kerry?
