US Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) is probably among the most despised members of Congress these days. As Chairman of the House Banking Committee, most people have seen his arrogant, condescending manner in various television interviews over the past several months. Well, it turns out that not everyone is upset with ol' Barney. Boston-based Fidelity Investments wants to make sure that Frank wins his next election. So a few weeks ago they "reached out" to him and threw a fund-raiser for Frank at their downtown Boston offices, netting $28,000 for Frank's campaign fund, which was reported in the Boston Herald last week.

He holds their future in his creepy hands - what else do you expect them to do?

"Boston-based Fidelity Investments wants to make sure that Frank wins his next election."

Well since we are talking about Barney "My Boy Lollipop" Frank, kind of makes me wonder what the sexual proclivities of those at Fidelity Investments are, from the TOP down.

It used to be common knowledge, birds of the feather, flock together.
Just saying.

Note to self - don’t use Fidelity.

This really p*sses me off. My 401k is with Fidelity and I am seriously thinking about moving my money. I have been a customer of theirs for 4 years now.

Any suggestions from my fellow Freepers on where to move my IRA to?

My problem is even worse. My company's 401K is with Fidelity. If I stop contributing to it, I forego my company match. It may be something I'd look at doing when I retire (now 4 years away instead of two, thanks to the Soros run on the money market last year).

There's also the problem that as we don't know what the other brokerage firms do in the way of political support, we may be moving from one Democrat shill to another without knowing it.

Like you, I'd like to know if there's any firm out there that is unabashedly conservative in it's political leanings.

I pulled all my investments from Fidelity several years ago when they turned their back on the Boy Scouts. I wrote to them and gave them a chance to change their policy. They refused, and wrote me back a letter to that effect. So I told them to stick it and I moved elsewhere!

I have a rollover IRA with them, but this is most unfortunate.

Oooh, I didn’t know about the Boy Scouts- strike 2.
I need to pay attention to these things.

I’ll probably just do a trading account through my credit union.

BArney Frank is the single Congress person most responsible for the mortage crisis and the demise of your 401k or IRA. IMy sign at the recent tea party in Mobile AL had just such a statement with Barney’s picture plastered across it! I got many comments in agreement, and everyone agreed he was a disgusting person!

Let’s see, why should I continue to have my 401k inside Fidelity Investments when there are so many attractive alternatives out there?

Vanguard, here I come.

I think the lessons learned is to not trust a Northeast Company to actually stand up to immorality, whatever the form.

While I understand that busineses such as these have dealings with lawmakers and what not...But this guy is where I draw the line. How he is able to walk around a free man is one of the greatest injustices in this country.

“Just keep in mind that every mutual fund probably does this for all the Democrats and Republicans.”

I think instead it is the mentality of those from the NE who diss other folks across the country ( i.e. - those with true morals and values).

Case in point? Try Enron, unfortunately based in Texas, while most of its “darling” competitor companies are NY based.

Enron was run out of business and officers jailed for crimes that a lot of NY companies are now being given my tax money for the same immoral wrongdoing.
