Remember O. Henry’s tale, The Ransom Of Red Chief? A couple of con men kidnap a rich banker’s son. The boy turns out to be a hellion who makes the kidnappers’ lives a living hell. By the end of the story, rather than paying a ransom, the boy’s father demands money to take the rascal back. So beleagured are the kidnappers that they pay up.

The O. Henry tale comes to mind in observing the way that Republican turncoat Arlen Specter is making his new-found Dem colleagues miserable. As recounted on this evening’s Hardball, in the course of just a few days, Specter:

After this post I’m not going to spend another minute worrying about the fate of Sen. Weasel, R-D-JrD-PA

Well take Arlen back (but only between now and the 2010 primary) if they take Collins and Snowe.

I'm so glad this is happening to Specter - the traitor.

I've posted before that he will probably lose his race in PA, because another dem (with the support of the dem establishment) could likely beat him in the dem primary. It's not a sure thing that he is going to win, not by a long shot. Furthermore, a Republican might win since 2 years gives the people of PA a chance to recognize that Obama is a true commie against everything American.

And those voters from "way back" are still there? Is Specter's original district the only district in the country that is unchanged from way back?

Oh, of course not....but if you read much politics, the fact that district lines change is glossed over quite a bit...what, MA 5 is one of the few districts in the USA that the Republicans never won back after Watergate...Tip O’Neill held the same seat as JFK...blah, blah, blah...

Al Gore lost his home state and his home CD in 2000.

What 3 Presidents have lost their home state (state of residence) and then won the Presidency?

Polk 1844, Wilson 1916, and Nixon 1968.

I wondered if Nixon won his home CD in 1968...nowadays NYC is Democrat pretty much all over but in those days the silk stocking district was somewhat Republican...

PJ—Thanks. In retrospect, I knew that. So now I must face the fact that the majority of PA voters support immoral and unprincipled people like Specter. And don’t forget Murtha.

I fear the task of breaking the Marxist trance afflicting too many Amercans will be very difficult and take a long time.

Given the rat Specter has shown himself to be, that is not comforting. It appears the majority of PA voters have bought the Marxist agenda hook, line and sinker.

The leftist education establishment, along with leftist media propagandists, have done their jobs. PA voters have been dumbeed down to the point they are devoid of critical thinking abiity. And they have been “conditioned” to see the world through the leftist template and propagandized to the point that certain code words elicit programmed responses from them.

I’ve been doing some unscientific experiments among family, friends and passing acquaintances. If I inject the words “Bush, Cheney or haliburton into any conversation it elicits viceral anger and a recitation of demrat talking points from demrats. And I have found it impossible to interrupt these people in the course of their hate filled mantra. The recording in their head simply will not turn off until they’ve oomed each and every talking point.

It is reminiscent of The Manchurian Candidate and quite unnerving.
