Ron Paul's Influence Grows
The New American ^ | 2009-05-06 | Charles Scaliger

lthough he officially abandoned his presidential bid last summer, Texas Congressman Ron Paul’s star continues to brighten. Once shunned by the mainstream media and marginalized by the national leadership of the Republican Party, the modest pediatrician-turned-congressman has become something of an éminence grise these days, feted and fawned over by the likes of Fox News, which once dismissed him as a quack.

The reason? Dr. Paul’s unexpected fundraising prowess during his presidential campaign turned more than a few heads, and the bestseller status of his book The Revolution: A Manifesto attracted further attention. But besides the growth of his Campaign for Liberty and the swelling ranks of followers, recent events have proven Congressman Paul right time and time again. What once seemed to those with no understanding of so-called “Austrian economics” as dour paranoia has turned out to be spot on, as the Mother of All Speculative Bubbles has imploded.

Ron Paul is a libertarian that has to be in the Republican Party to get elected. His economic ideas are fine, but the rest of it is off in kook land. And I LIKE THE GUY. He’s just not presidential material. He was my congressman for several years, and I voted for him, but when you talk of war, he’s not the guy. He is a zealot that would have us actually follow the Constitution. What’s up with that? Square peg in a round hole.

And you have a problem with that?

He had a photo-op with the founder of Stormfront. He’s the most anti-Israel member of the House next to Dennis Kucinich. He said Israel killed “innocent civilians” in the Lebanon War and that America was also responsible because she sold her weapons! He doesn’t think Irans nuclear program should be destroyed, he’d rather we left it alone. His positions promote a second Holocaust! Ron Paul is a Nazi.

Yeah his influence sure grows, he’s the only republican Cindy Sheehan can stomach. Birds of a feather.

Cindy Sheehan endorses Ron Paul over Barack Obama

http://wigdersonlibrarypub.blogspot.com/2008/05/cindy-sheehan-endorses-ron-paul-over.html

and earlier:

Sheehan: “I don’t want to even discuss who is likely to be the Republican nominee, because besides having little foreign policy difference between any of them and Hillary, anyone of them would be a complete disaster on matters of war and peace, with the possible exception of Ron Paul (Tx).”

Ron Paul will never be President. Get a new idol.

That wasn't Dr. Paul's goal anyway.

- Tea Parties? Those were born in the Ron Paul campaign
- His campaign was 2nd only to Obama's in Internet fundraising, grassroots organizing, and political presence (Where were the bloggers and grassroots support for the other Republican candidates?)

- Sarah Palin likes him - LINK

I think Paul should be the next Republican "leader". He's the only one that makes sense now, while not having a ton of political baggage his neck. He can connect with religious voters from a small government point of view and he's dead on with all other domestic policies. I tend to disagree with him on some foreign policy issues, but no one is perfect. He DOES need to work on his speech delivery in a big way though.

He sure beats the hell out of everyone else out there that is perceived to be a republican "leader"...

"Oh HELL no...."

Oh, come on. You held your nose and voted for McCain didn't you? At least with Paul, you would agree with him on most things.

Paul is good on most domestic issues (not earmarks), but his foreign policy is indefensible, a deal breaker.

Nope...I voted for the number two in the hopes McCain would have a stroke....

sorry...I’m brutally honest....

Ron Paul and I part ways on the battle of the barbary coast.

According to Ron pauls logic....jefferson sending the navy to fight the Islamic pirates without congressional approval would be illegal......

Jefferson sent them...and “informed” congress later....

Quote:
“It is not our job to remove Saddam Hussein- that is the job of the Iraqi people. It is not our job to remove the Taliban- that is the business of the Afghan people”

I dont agree with Paul on the time of day...

Anyone who has the loyalty of 9/11 truthers is no hero of mine...

I love Jefferson and I am an avid reader of his material. Ron Paul is nothing compared to him...NOTHING! I would say the same about almost all the present day politicians, but I just have to reinforce that.

I don’t hate the man, but I don’t understand why some people adore him.
