Information released by the White House describes dozens of briefings for congressional leaders on CIA methods, including waterboarding and the planned destruction of interrogation videotapes.
******************************snip*********************
THE WHITEHOUSE???*******************************
Reporting from Washington -- Congressional leaders were briefed repeatedly on the CIA's use of severe interrogation methods on Al Qaeda suspects, according to new information released by the Obama administration Thursday that appears to contradict the assertions of House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
Jay Bybee silent on interrogation memos
A chart compiled by the CIA indicates that Pelosi (D-San Francisco) was briefed on Sept. 4, 2002, on the agency's interrogation of alleged Al Qaeda operative Abu Zubaydah, and that the session covered "the particular [enhanced interrogation techniques] that had been employed." The chart does not list the specific methods covered during the briefing. But during the preceding month, the CIA had used the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding on Abu Zubaydah at least 83 times, according to a Justice Department memo released last month.
Pelosi has acknowledged being briefed on the CIA's interrogation program, but said she was told only about methods the agency was considering, not about techniques it had actually employed.
As recently as a week ago, Pelosi said, "We were not -- I repeat were not -- told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used."

For Bush and Cheney they call it “torture”
For Pelosi they call it “harsh interrogations”
Don’t you love how the English words are used to manipulate reactions?

According the the standards of liberal America Pelosi should resign. She lied to the American people and she knew about what we shall call, (for the sake of discussion only), “torture” and she did nothing to stop it. In the demented view of leftist Democrats, this would make her a conservative Republican.

When an intelligence agency is forced essentially to remind certain elected officials what meetings they were in and what was said and covered... That's pretty bad. The terrorists have won.

Call it payback for Reid humiliating the White House over Specter’s seniority issue.

First of all, we all knew this was so despite what the Pukeosi was saying. What I want to point out is the semantics involved now. Read the headline and tell me what is different about it when compared to what would have been the headline if Bush was found lying about "harsh interrogation techniques". If you said the word TORTURE is missing you win the prize.
Since Nancy had knowledge of it, even though she isn't admitting it, water boarding is no longer torture in the eyes of the media but is now a "harsh interrogation techniques", which is the name the CIA gives to water boarding and other methods used to extract info from terrorist, but was not called that when referencing Bush's name, instead it was always torture.
Now that all these dems have been outed as to having knowledge of "harsh" methods of questioning we will see this die a quiet death.

You have to do a little digging though. They gave Manny Ramirez and his banned substance abuse a higher profile. But then Manny is a Dodger, which ranks only behind, Republican's, Homophobes and Christians as the most evil people in the world according to the decadent denizens of Baghdad-by-the-Bay.

And notice that the White House released this.... They were forced to release it under the freedom of information act. Actually, it was printed in one paper yesterday(I forget which one)and then the white house had to own up to it. CIA actually released it, I think in order to establish a pecking order with the Bozo dummies.

I like this from the Kansas city Star ( a McClatchy paper:
Pelosi's crumbling credibility on torture
**************************EXCERPT*********************************
By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's near-sanctimonious attitude in condemning torture done under the Bush administration left out a key fact: She knew about the torture tactics.
That's what new CIA documents released by the Obama administration show.
The bottom line: It appears Pelosi hasn't been honest with the American public about her knowledge of the CIA's actions during the Bush years, post 9/11.
She was among congressional leaders briefed starting in 2002 on the use of torture on al Qaida suspects. The interrogation techniques included waterboarding.
Pelosi keeps saying she and other members of Congress were not -- "I repeat were not" -- told about waterboarding or other "enhanced interrogation methods."
The new CIA documents will be used by Pelosi's GOP opponents to paint her as a politician who can't be trusted, at least when it comes to condemning torture techniques by U.S. forces.
