Limbaugh makes millions for being wrong (While I toil away at 7-11 and opine from Mom's basement!)
The Augusta Chronicle ^ | May 9, 2009 | Nathan Kirby

Posted on 05/09/2009 1:46:53 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh signed an eight-year, $400 million contract in 2008 with Clear Channel Communications! In terms even I can understand, that's $50 million a year -- not to mention tens of millions more in endless endorsements.

I've just got to ask: Why on God's green Earth does he make so much money? Yes, I realize Limbaugh is the de facto Führer of the Republican Party. Yet, as far as I can tell, he's making well over half-a-billion dollars the next eight years for doing nothing more than always being wrong.

Didn't Limbaugh predict the invasion of Iraq would be smooth sailing? Didn't Limbaugh parrot Bush every time he said, "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" -- all the way up to and over the economic collapse cliff, in September 2008? In January 2009, didn't Limbaugh predict the apocalypse if President Obama's economic plans were passed by the majority-Democrat Congress?

Then, on May 5, didn't Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, a Republican, predict the economy would be out of recession by fall 2009? Jobless claims are dropping. Retail sales are improving. Thus, the stock market has been positive the past two months.

So, where's this apocalypse we were all dying for?

I'm sorry, but as the rational human being bank-rolling him, I would absolutely have to know that Limbaugh has been right about one, single, teensy-weensy thing in order to have completely justified his $400-million-plus goldmine jackpot.

Jealous? You bet your sweet, sweet apple I am! Hey, I'm wrong all the time, too. Quick -- someone write me a check for $400 million and I'll be as wrong as you want for as long as you want. Heck, I'll even go one better. I'll be wrong and over the moon to get paid a measly 1 percent of that amount for my magnificently selfless services.

Ben Bernanke is not a Republican. He is a Democrat, just like Hank Paulson.

This is what happens when you elect someone like George W. Bush - compassionate Conservative and unabashed bipartisan.

What happens is Republicans get screwed!

Everyone has their own peculiar notion of a decent president. Some people like presidents who lower taxes and run up the largest federal budget deficit in history. Others confide all their trust in a president who holds human beings in prison indefinitely, without charge, torturing them in order to win, or keep the peace at any cost.

There also are those who truly adore a president who bugs his or her citizens’ homes in the name of “freedom” without a warrant — until it happens to them personally, of course. Then, strangely enough, it instantly becomes an unforgivable defamation of their sacred constitutional rights. Heh, imagine that.

I have one criterion for an OK president: Can I criticize him or her without being threatened with arrest; without brutality; without having an FBI van pull up outside my house; without being called unpatriotic, a traitor or a commie worm?

Most important of all, dearest to my heart: Can I disagree with presidential policies without alienating and losing friends in this lovely little place I’ve called home since 1977, since I was a toddler?

Hallelujah! I’m not going to have any of these multitudinous problems of the past eight years during the next four.

Nathan Kirby, Augusta

What must the Republicans be thinking by not supporting President Obama’s stimulus whatsoever? A logical person might think the Republican Party would go completely extinct when the economy improves from so many people becoming employed, having their benefits extended and keeping their houses, thus stimulating business growth.

Notwithstanding, the Republicans know exactly what they’re doing. They cannot support President Obama now; instead, they swear up and down that nothing Obama does helps the economy. And when the economy inevitably improves — and a small tax surplus is created from Obama repealing Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthiest 5 percent of Americans — the Republicans will come back into power with unshaky promises of “Now that everything’s finally fixed, let’s have the tax cuts back. Let’s see if we can possibly top the budget deficit that Bush left President Obama. And, uh, oh yeah — no more oversight of business because oversight is communist.” And then we can go through the whole horrific boom-and-bust cycle all over again.

Great. Can’t wait. Try to hold on to your 401(k) at that point!

Yes, unlike those bastions of honesty and integrity like:
1. Harry Reid - the war is lost,
2. 0bambi - we are not a Christian nation,
3. Pelosi - I was never told we tortured,
4. Gore - he betrayed us, and finally
5. Swimmer Kennedy - I was confused.

Limbaugh is almost always right. In regards to going off the cliff,,,,, we have,,,, just have not hit the bottom yet. Don’t pay too much attention to the rising (for now) market. Look at what could result from these “failing treasury auctions.

Well Nathan , can I call you Nattily?

Nattily sometimes we reach a point in our lives when we work up the never to ask the questions you pose, just to hear the cold yet truthful response, “If we have to explain it to you, you just wouldn’t understand.”

I looked up your photo Nattily, and I believe I can see one of your problems, poor soul, you look gay. But don’t try to explain your gayness to me, as I just wouldn’t understand.

Good night, Nattily.

If I read that right, he wants a president who will make his friends like him. That certainly what I always look for in the leader of the free world; forget all that hoity-toity economic and international relations stuff, can you make me popular?

Hey Nat, you little limp wrist, since you’re into calling people out for how much they legally make, why not call out big bucks scum like David Letterman, or HOprah, or George Looney? They all make a pile of money. How come that’s fair and Limbaugh or anyone else on the right’s income is a target for your misplaced puerile anger? Why not call out Nazi Pelosi? She’s got a lot of money.

I’ve never heard of this clown and I’d be willing to bet most of you have not either. However we DO know who Rush Limbaugh is. Thus the difference in the pay scale between them.
