"I am going back on campus to prayerfully bear witness. Come, join me, let us trespass together so that in our trespasses we might find ourselves fully in obedience to the will of God."

Amen!

Boy I would love to watch "The One" debate Alan just once, any subject, any time, any place!

He can even have his teleprompter.

So find footage of the 2006 Illinois Senate race. Keyes ran against Obama.

Amen again!

Eph 6:12: For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Thank You Satan 1:50

I believe that Zero refused to debate Ambassador Keyes when they ran for the Senate four years ago.

I don’t think there was a debate in 2004. EternalVigilance will know for certain.

Keyes does not do nearly as well you as you would hope. You can find the IL senate debates between Keyes and Obama in 2004 on Youtube.

There were, and some media outlets fawned over Obama’s “eloquence” in them, comparing the debates to the Lincoln-Douglas debates.

Exactly. On substance, Keyes was far superior but there were two problems. One, Obama’s practiced ability to talk out of both sides of his mouth was lapped up by the media (this is a skill Obama has cultivated since the beginning of his political career. Yes, he uhms and ahs a lot sans teleprompter, but he also developed the ability always to affirm the side he opposes while then also weaselly opposing it. Tom Roeser noticed this characteristic of Obama when the Big O first appeared on Roeser’s local Chicago political talk show—at that time Obama was begging for any opportunity for exposure. It’s deliberate and he’s good at it because, while FReepers can see the weaselly hypocrisy readily, the media deliberately look past it and praise it as “unifying” and “post-partisan.”)

Second, Keyes has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth. I love his positions, I think his stump speech about the Declaration of Independence and the right to life is wonderful, but then, during that Senate campaign he had to go and endorse reparations and other such lightning rod off-the-wall statements. I love the guy but he never quite knows when to put a sock in it, when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em.

I suppose we need people like him willing to get arrested for pushing a baby stroller. It’s just not a path to election to office. But perhaps that’s not his calling.

So, yes, he could make mincemeat of Obama in a debate, but it would never be acknowledged—the ones scoring the debate are in the tank for Zero. And not infrequently, Keyes delivers them sufficient cover for their double-standard when he goes ballistically provocative on us.
