Sending us back to 1875

...The president and his allies have decided that man-made carbon dioxide is a witch's brew that's killing the planet, and they think that just because the cap-and-trade cure stings doesn't mean we shouldn't have to swallow it. Their solution is embodied in the Henry A. Waxman-Edward J. Markey global warming legislation...Its proponents call it "back to the future." They're not kidding, either....

....you can test drive Waxman-Markey by sailing down to Haiti, because current CO2 emissions are where Waxman-Markey wants America's to be in 2050. Radical environmentalists think such a CO2 level will be heaven on Earth, but the place that has actually achieved it is a nation swimming in bacterial and protozoal diarrhea, hepatitis A and E, typhoid fever, dengue fever and malaria, 47 percent illiteracy and a life expectancy of 49 years....

...the economic damage. Your electricity bill will increase by 77 percent to 129 percent. Filling up your gas tank will cost anywhere from 60 percent to 144 percent more. The cost of home heating oil and natural gas will nearly double....

If Democrats manage to pass a cap-and-trade fiasco, millions of lost American jobs will likely pop up overseas...According to the National Association of Manufacturers, cap-and-trade will cost 3 million to 4 million net jobs lost...Charles Rivers Associates estimated it as high as 7 million. Because there is so little protection for industry jobs that rely heavily on affordable and dependable baseload power, I think we can expect to start buying more Mexican cement, Chinese fertilizer and Indian steel...Under the Waxman-Markey draft we are capping our economy and trading away our jobs. We are instituting a regressive energy tax on Americans already enduring high unemployment, lost 401(k)s, and rampant home foreclosures. I believe we cannot kick our economy while it is down and achieve anything good...

Now....Now even Democrats are getting concerned that it will damage their districts... he says. Probably not, but they most likely are getting concerned this could cost some of them their congressional seats. Our Overlords have decided to kill the economy in order to cure it. How long will people be willing to pay an electric bill that has increased by 75 percent because Dr. BO says its good for them?

With the proceeds going into the hands connected to the Democrat party.

Junk science has been around for a long long time. The difference now is that we have politicians who are making policy on junk science. What if we made policy on the belief back in the 70’s that a new ice age was coming?

The problem with clean air and water is that it will never be “clean” enough for the Enviros. Besides, after it gets sufficiently clean, you don’t notice any difference. Except, our course, in your bill because it takes exponentially increasing amounts of money to produce virtually unnoticable effects. Actually, C02 is worse because that will make NO difference whatsoever. It is the modern day equivalent of selling indulgences. What we really need is a modern day Luther to start a revolution and end this nonsense.

We are headed back to 1875 medically, too, if, as seems probable, Husssein and the Democrats get some version of Socialized Medicine. There will be no more Research and Development for new drugs because the government cannot justify paying for the huge costs involved and there will be no more patent protection for new drugs for companies to recoup their R&D expenses. That means no new antibiotics to replace the current ones as they lose effectiveness to pathogen mutation. 1875. You get sick, you die.

I can only hope the Dems are dumb enough to pass Cap and Trade. It might be the tipping point for below average intelligence Americans to see that the Democrat party is not for Americans. They will destroy our economy and make us a 2nd world country. Nobama has already condemned generations of Americans with unsustainable debt and now they will ensure that we can pay it back by finishing the dismantling of our economy.

1875. You get sick, you die.

Look at the bright side. The survivors will have a stronger natural immunity

Our Overlords have decided to kill the economy in order to cure it.

Not to be argumentative, but this is SCAM, SCAM, SCAM all the way.

It'll kill the economy all right. But it sure won't cure anything. We're more looking at a new ice age than we are global warming.

But the plan as I understand it is to enrich the federal coffers by something like 300 billion with this abortion of a bill which just amounts to a hell of a tax on energy.

It's obvious that Waxman and Zero have never read Aesop's fable about killing the goose that lays the golden egg.

...need a modern day Luther to start a revolution and end this nonsense.

It's called 10th Amendment rights and, if that doesn't work, SECESSION! Lots of talk and action about both going 'round lately.

Well, let me see.......the 50% of the people who pay no taxes will get the cost rebated back to them or their bills will be pd by the gubmint anywway.
If you are counting on the ‘people’ to turn this crap around well.........

Here in rural Virginia people will turn off their heat pumps and burn more firewood. How’s that for reducing CO2?

Imbeciles.

thank you for calling the protestant movement a revolution rather than a reformation....Luther caused the loss of more souls than any other person in history

“Luther caused the loss of more souls than any other person in history”

Not to hijack the thread, but what do you mean by that statement? I am Lutheran, and don’t feel like I am a ‘lost soul’ by any means.

As another Freeper commented, people in our government want us to believe that if they raise our taxes, they can control the weather. Insane.

Even more imbecilic is that only about 3 percent of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the result of human activity. The rest is generated by nature. Burn more firewood. Or not. It will not make a measurable difference.

Luther revolted against the Catholic Church and decided that he, not they, was more capable of establishing a religion than Jesus Christ......Jesus established and promised to guide the Catholic church....He was doing just fine but 1500 years later, Luther drew many souls from the true church seeking a much easier path to salvation....pathetic sola scriptura indeed.....no transubstantion......Jesus said “This is my body” not this represents my body. By the way, if you are actually and legitimately baptized, you are a Catholic.....you can only be baptized into the true Christian religion.....you can be baptized in a Lutheran church, a Methodist church, a presbeterian church, a gymnasium, a city park...it doesn’t matter, you are baptized a Catholic.....you may not pratice Catholocism, but if you are Baptized......you are a Catholic......welcome home!!!
