Cheney steps up assault on Obama

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Former vice president Dick Cheney stepped up his assault on President Barack Obama on Tuesday, warning he was making "huge" mistakes on the economy and stripping America's anti-terror arsenal.

Cheney, who has emerged as a fierce defender of the last US administration -- while former president George W. Bush's has remained silent -- also said Obama's plan to close the Guantanamo Bay terror camp was a "terrible" idea.

"Bottom line is, we successfully defended the nation for seven-and-a-half years against a follow-on attack to 9/11," Cheney said in an interview with Fox Business Network.

"That was a remarkable achievement. Nobody would have thought that was possible, but it was. I believe it was possible because of the policies we had in place, which they're now dismantling."

Cheney defended the harsh CIA interrogation methods used on terror suspects, branded by critics as torture, which the Obama administration has halted.

He also weighed in on Guantanamo Bay camp which Obama has vowed to close within a year.

"I think it's a terrible idea," Cheney said.

Cheney's interview represented his second attack on the administration within three days, especially targeting anti-terror policies repudiating the tactics of the former Bush administration.

"I think that we are stripping ourselves of some of the capabilities that we used in order to block, if you will, or disrupt activities by Al-Qaeda that would have led to additional attacks," Cheney said.

LOL! You said a mouthful! They DO hate the truth. Just as Satan hates the truth, so does the Left. It is stench to them. I always thought the hate of Bush had a deep spiritual component to it b/c it was so vitriolic and intense - there is no other way to explain it. We have been in worse wars and lost way more soldiers - we’ve had way worst economically and so one has to wonder what the core of all that hate was - and I say it comes from the pit of Hell (I’m saying that a lot lately actually). Heck, it’s true.

Dick Cheney stepped up his assault on President Barack Obama

When was the word assault ever used to describe what Carter, Clinton and Gore had to say about GWB?

This is how the left operates. For those reading FR and not yet fully equipped to take on the enemy, these are the perfect examples of liberal bias. Next time you are told 'the media just reports the news, they don't make it'...bunk. It's what they choose to report and choose not to report...how they choose to report something (i.e Cheney assaults, Gore criticizes).

On related note; does anyone remember those lefty bumper stickers that became popular in 2004-2006 timeframe..."Dissent Is Patriotic". Anyone else notice they are all scraped off now? Lefties used to say that publicly as well...don't hear that anymore either.

BOTH Bushes were pushing the Bravo Sierra or the NEW WORLD ORDER so it was inevitable that the job would fall to Dick Cheney, who was the conservative brain in the Bush White House. It wasn’t Karl Rove.

I always find it telling that the MSM calls it an assault when conservatives tell the truth about liberals but it is always truth and lite when the liberals lie their tails off about conservatives.

I was there for eight years and neither Bush or Cheney used the bully pulpit.
I guess it's just a matter of YOUR opinion then.

And how in the hell am I Bashing Bush?

I have wondered for a couple years why the White House had not let Cheney out to defend the administration.

I'm not going to disagree with you, but I have a different perspective.

Why weren't Cheney and other conservatives on the offensive against the left for years? This is something we need our political leaders to get better at...changing the dynamic of the discussion from defending our beliefs to questioning their lack of "everything".

Click here to read what NewLand told 20 million listeners about being on the offensive!

It is evident they do not like what Cheney is saying as it will eventually be evident that Cheney wasn’t as much a demon as the presstitutes and Demonrats had people believe and it will sink in with what he was saying being right and they will have to answer for the myth they have sold all along. You can’t help but notice the power of what Cheney says and how he is going to be right. The myth can only last for so long until the reality sets in.

Sadly the only thing that will make those among us take notice of what Cheney says will be smoldering piles of ruin form the next attack.

And for many of us, that still won't prevent Cheney from being public enemy #1.

Cheney used to tell dem Senators to Go F-Off while he was President of the Senate. And privately. He was only caught on tape once. With Patrick Leahy, who tried to shake his hand with a camera running.

That's a cool guy. Honestly, he didn't put up with BS there like a senior master seargent wouldn't. They just never got told off like that.

Or, maybe 0bama will throw thousands of US troops at Taliban strongholds in AfPak areas, without help of most allies.

I feel odumber than obumber will change the ROE and tie the troops hands more than ever too.

Cheney hasn’t been out of power very long, and his knowledge of the functions of Government agencies is extensive. I think his public statements are aimed as much at the Senate and the House to alert them that the changes by the Obama Administration are putting us in deadly peril.

Cheney cares more about this country than anything else. He doesn’t need to do this at all. He’s only hanging around because Obama released classified information. Cheney knows other classified information that should also be released.
