The stand-up comedian Wanda Sykes took only seconds in her disciplined 15 minutes at the White House Correspondents' Dinnera naughty performance that mocked both Barack Obama and Rush Limbaughto lay out a vision for the Republican Party. Of course, Sykes didnt mean to help the GOP, yet in the manner of a prophet she climbed up on the mountaintop of C-SPAN at the precise moment that the glamorous tribes of Washington, New York, and Hollywood had gathered to worship, and she spoke the words that came to her as if from a special effects Yahweh. Wanda Sykes articulated a simple vision. She pictured a day in the distant future when the Republican Party will be free of its childlike dependence upon burlesque acts like Rush Limbaugh and his acolytes; free of their droning, repetitive excuses that the attack on New York and Washington gives them writ to bait and bully everyone who isnt on the burlesque stage with them.
Wanda Sykes did all this when she was struck by lightning and said, I think maybe Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker, but he was so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight. Then, in case we missed the reference to Limbaughs documented and illicit chemical dependency: He hopes the country fails. I hope his kidneys fail, how bout that
This bold and transforming remark was so potent that it frightened everyone official whose job depends upon behaving sensitively in public. The opaque Robert Gibbs at the White House press briefing the next morning ran away from the meaning of it all by saying that 9/11 is not a proper subject for humor. I don't know. What I hear coming from Prager and Levin is far more sophisticated (Levin does get a bit emotional) than anything coming from demagogic commmunity organizer blathering about hedge funds and speculators, when actually discussing secured creditors. Actually, I don't hear much substantive criticism of Limbaugh from the left. It's all drugs this, and fat that. Quite childish and reminiscent of the school yard actually. Can you talk about issues if you want to be so damn sophisticated, and avoid the ad hominem? When you have to work as hard as you do, Johnny, to distort and mischaracterize, forgive us if we suspect your advice isn't given in our best interest.
This transparent strategy to charachiture everyone on the right that you consider a threat, and then act as if the false image you've worked so hard to create is reality, gets really old.
If the right allows idiots like this author and others of his ilk to decide for them that Palin, Limbaugh and Cheney are somehow toxic because the left's smear machine has launched campaigns against them, we deserve to lose going forward.
KSFO in San Fran picked him up awhile back as a sunday evening show in place of bill cunningham who was drudge’s sunday show replacement there as well..
Batchelor is an odd duck. I’ll leave it at that.
quack.
Married to a woman who is a minister. I believe they have a couple of children.
Odd is an understatement.
What would the Arab terrorists have called Flight 93 if Wanda Sykes had been onboard? Flight 69.
I like John, but sometimes he’s just way off in La-La Land, as demonstrated by this nonsense column.
