I find it funny that so-called "liberals" admit Conservatives have a much higher standard than them:

[QUOTE]As a longtime fan of talk radio, I don't think this bodes well for the long-term broad appeal of the medium. I want stimulation and expansion of my thinking -- not shrill, numbing hectoring and partisan undermining of the authority and dignity of the presidency. Rabidly Bush-bashing Democrats shouldn't have done it to the last president either, but that's no excuse for conservatives, who claim to revere our institutions, to play schoolyard tit for tat.

The fact that the Left has NO standards, yet expect us to live up to unreasonably high standards, is the ultimate hypocrisy.

Liberals, who are now in power in Washington, hate America and want to dismantle its foundational institutions and liberties, including capitalism and private property. Liberals are rootless internationalists who cravenly appease those who want to kill us.

I think she sums it up neatly.

Methinks the left is worried.

They should be.

If you want to see a lib’s head spin around in spittle flinging anger,

mention “secession”.

This move trumps ALL of their control fantasies.

Y’know, I hate to admit it but I’m 90% on board with the old dyke Paglia on this one. Talk radio HAS gotten repetitive not to mention shrill - I can only take so much constant, repetitive bitching about 0. I GET IT!!! Now let’s do something PRODUCTIVE for the conservative cause, for a change.

Flame away.

In John Frankenheimer's taut 1964 film, "Seven Days in May,"

ANYTIME someone uses a fictitious event to draw parallels to, that makes me highly suspicious.

Although I respect Paglia's intellect (if not her views), this is far beneath her. It's along the lines of "You should watch Syriana because it will tell you all about the CIA."

I think there’s two reasons that you hear talk radio getting the shrill edge it has these days. First, there’s a significant amount of truth in it. Obama IS a stealth socialist, just look at what he’s done with Chrysler, with TARP, with bank nationalization. Look at what he’s talking about doing with cap and trade. To a conservative, this massive, sudden grab of government control over the private sector is something that needs to be shouted against at full volume.

Which leads into the second reason...we turn to “shrill” talk radio because we know that the mainstream media WILL NOT do their jobs and report on any of this. They are 100% in the bag for The One and his socialist liberal agenda and will not even give us the objective facts about what he’s doing, much less any commentary against it. They are a paid propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, for the most part, and thus we have to turn to Limbaugh, and Hannity, and Savage, and Ingraham, and Levin, and dozens of other conservative talk radio hosts, to find truth.

Oh, I forgot a third reason—because we conservatives are frustrated that our alleged leadership in Washington is doing NOTHING to counter Obama’s socialism. Yes, he’s got majorities in both Houses and the news media in his pocket. That’s no excuse not to fight! Instead of fighting tooth and nail for the conservative principles they mouthed to us during their election campaigns, most of them roll over and let themselves be steamrolled when the chips are down. That makes us angry, and that’s reflected in talk radio.

I dunno, I guess some talk radio is that way. Certainly The Savage Weiner, and, unfortunately, Mark Levin, could be described that way.

I'm a Salem guy, and Bill Bennett certainly doesn't correlate to that description. Candor, intelligence, and good-will.

Mike Gallagher, yeah, that would cover him.

Dennis Prager talks about all sorts of things, and is insightful and compelling.

Michael Medved is smart as a whip and I enjoy listening to his strategy as he takes apart liberal arguments.

So, I guess my point is, some of the shows may be that way, but if you look around, there's some very intelligent, compelling radio to be had out there.

I have to admit that I can't listen to too many of the talk radio shows anymore....a lot of them like Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity sound like they're whining too much (plus Sean kissing butt with RINO's). Rush is still good, if only because he's offering solutions to how to combat Obama.

The bedwetting flagburners are correct to try to attack Limbaugh, because he's showing the GOP just how to defeat Obama and the radical Left in the 2010 election. democrats linking Limbaugh with the GOP has gotten the RINO's shaking in their pumps. Ironically, the only time Limbaugh had any REAL influence with the Republican Party, they swept into power in 1994.

Conservative Talk Radio IS PRODUCTIVE.....and INSTRUCTIVE. How do you think our message can get out to millions of people any better way? How will Obama and the democrat’s culture of corruption, graft and greed be known at all, if not for talk radio? Who will hold our conservative and republican reps and senators feet to the fire for sitting around and watching Obama turn our country into a communist/fascist state? It is a beyond foolish to undermine talk radio...it is suicidal.

The shouting against at full volume shoud be done in the House and Senate by the opposition, where it might make a difference. I respectfully submit that some folks like me who have listened to talk radio since its inception are being turned off by the shrillness. The talk radio hosts are all about keeping their numbers up to maximize their advertising revenue, which is fine, believe me. I get to listen to Limbaugh for a few minutes and then Hannity for as much as I can stand during my commute home - usually no more than 15 minutes, which is sad. You’re correct in that we have few outlets to turn to for balanced news and reasoned discourse, which is in short supply these days. I get my news almost exclusively from Fox News and some selective websites.

This article is the perfect example of liberal, elitist thinking.

Any rabid display of Bush hatred, conservative putdowns, taking away of speech freedoms is ok, wonderful, ignored as nothing (because, of course, it is justified or right).

But, one anti-Obama, anti-liberal statement or movement is cause for any manner of outrage.

So, what we see is that she sees nothing to worry about as America loses its protection from nuclear assault, the theft of the treasury by corrupt, out-of-control anti-American liberals, the continual daily assault on America’s wealth, social freedoms, health care, armies, world politics, nuclear arms - that is not worth worrying about.

She prefers mental stimulation rather than listening to those smart enough to see America being destroyed by her party. A typical nazi in action.

Utterly disgusting. Let her look at her own party’s doings, corruptions, destruction of the American economoy, military, education, and standing as a super power. Such utter ignorance and robot thinking.

But, gee, she did manage to criticize one, Wanda, as totally embarrassing, ignorant, hateful. But, in the same breath chastises Cheney and Mark Davis for a mere statement - not actions of destruction as is being done by her dictator - Obama.

She is right - revolution and emotional seething is going on and she is dealing with Americans - not a third world country led by a dictator.

How ignorant does she think the Americans are? We are not as blind as she is.

Exactly. I thank the good Lord everyday for Rush, Mark, Laura etc. I would just be a mind-controlled drone like the rest, if not for them.

Unfortunately I can’t get streaming audio at work so am limited to a little of Rush and as much Hannity as I can stand during my commute home.

Fox News?

I would submit that talk radio is undermining itself. IMHO.

Can’t stand Vanity either.

I listen to Glenn Beck. Well worth it. He’s saying stuff nobody else is saying.
