Survey Results Are Out – Abstinence Wins!
His Master's Voice | 5/13/09 | HMV

Researchers have surveyed all methods of contraception, and only one is 100% effective. It is abstinence. Further, they have studied related health risks, and only one contraception method is without risks. It is abstinence.

Of course, my liberal friends tell me that abstinence is “unrealistic”, and that young people need to become proficient at contraception, particularly the use of condoms.

To my liberal friends: Let me tell you what is “unrealistic”!

What is unrealistic is for teenagers:

- with raging hormones,

- who are stealing away to back seats of cars and other places where they might not be caught,

- who have already rejected the message of abstinence….

will, in the heat of the moment, actually adhere to the great “education in contraception” they received and consistently and properly use condoms!

Now THAT is unrealistic! Liberals are dreaming!

But wait, the condom approach gets even more unrealistic!

Let’s assume, like my LZ (Liberal Zombie) friends do, that these teens can be so responsible that they use condoms “perfectly”, as described by the World Health Organization (WHO). I’m talking about the first time and every time, right up until the 30th time. What’s significant about the 30th time?

By the World Health Organization’s own statistics, there is a 3% pregnancy rate among condom users that use them perfectly! That means by the 30th time, the couple that uses condoms “perfectly” have already conceived or will do so very soon!

WHO also points out that less-than-perfect condom use results in pregnancy rates ranging from 10-14%. This is probably more a more realistic figure, meaning that conception rates will be much higher.

So who is realistic here? Once again, the abstinence supporters are the ones with their feet on the ground. But why is abstinence so ridiculed?

There is, I believe, a hidden agenda in the anti-abstinence message. It is that abstinence implies a religious stance, and of course, this does not sit well with the secular crowd, and they seek to belittle and defame the only perfectly effective approach that exists. They quite literally throw the baby out with the bath water!

I taught an abstinence program to the teens in my church. It works 100% of the time. Not only do you protect your body, but also your spirit, your peace of mind and your reputation.

In my day, it was FEAR.
Fear of dad...fear of shaming the “family name.”
It worked.

Liberals demand perfection. If there is anyone, anywhere, who was taught abstinence and who failed to stick with that plan and ended up pregnant -- that is then used as a complete refutation of everything connected with abstinence education.

On the other hand, a century of failed socialist regimes, and 100 million dead victims, just makes Liberals say "Let's keep trying: I still think this idea has merit."

For us, they raise the bar very, very high. For themselves, there is no bar.

Yeah, but it’s not good for the porno industry or the stockholders in the condom industry.

And it makes the Hollywood set look like a load of perverts.

Plus, no one wants to admit that Christianity has a plus factor.

At least the media will cooperate and not report any of this sort of finding.

i m a innur sity publik scewl teechur. Abstinence ed is so important because it also teaches self respect. Teens have sex because they think they have to to fit in, or that there are few consequences. Self-respect would eliminate so much of this. The best way (in my experience) to curb teen pregnancy is to take away ssi, wic, etc. If there is no monetary reward, my students wouldn’t get pregnant.

Too simple. The students would not get pregnant if they had true knowledge of who they truly are in the scheme of things... A child of G-d that deserves more than fleeting physical release. They need to be taught that they are worth the wait and what a gift it is to give your spouse the gift of one’s virginity on one’s wedding night.

Ah, but there is the problem. God. We can’t teach about God. I agree with what you are saying, though.

Add that it’s not good for the abortion industry, either.

This is the most accurate and completely succinct explanation of the liberal mindset that I have ever had the pleasure of reading! Thank you!

And this is not just about abstinence - it is EVERY SINGLE LIBERAL AGENDA/IDEA!!!!

It is that abstinence implies a religious stance...

I can make an excellent case for abstinence without a single religious reference.

Religious belief helps, but it is not necessarily fundamental. Here's a short synopsis.

Why Abstinence

1) STDs are prevalent.
2) Unwanted pregnancy ruins lives - and ends some.
3) Unmarried sex often leads to poor relationship choices.

With appropriate amplification on these three, I believe a compelling case can be made.
