He said nothing, however, of the suffering of Gaza's 3,000 Christians since Hamas took over that territory in 2007. Benedict might well have decried the many bombings, shootings and other Islamist attacks against Gazan Christian establishments, the brutal murder of the territory's only Bible-store owner, or the regular intimidation and persecution of Christians there. His solidarity with Gazan Christians might have given them some much-needed strength.
Benedict, speaking from Bethlehem the site of rampant Muslim persecution of Christians did not once renounce the Islamic violence there, either. Instead, the pope stood beside Abbas as the Palestinian leader deceptively pointed to a concrete separation barrier in Bethlehem and blamed that barrier, as well as Israeli "occupation," for the plight of Christians.

I’m not catholic nor very religious but it seems the Pope is getting quite an hard time of many Jews over there .
Why?
They were mad because he said killed and not murdered
They were upset because he said millions instead of 6millions
sounds ot me they are just trying to pick him apart, maybe they should have done this to bozo the clown when he went over there and pout his false face on at the wall

Point well made by the good Rabbi. My take? Nuke Iran.

This is all quite unhelpful. Once again the west busies itself with infighting while Islam gains strength.

Ummm, he could have responded that they already have. Vatican City (an independent country) is situated in the city of Rome.

"I was shocked to hear that the first thing the pope had to say when he landed in Israel was that the Holy Land must be divided to make room for a Palestinian state," said Joseph Gerlitzky... He's probably shocked because he knows you can't negotiate with the muslims. You either win or lose there is no middle ground.
What stuns me is why so many American Jews voted for 0. He supports the same thing.

Um... the Church already submitted to the split of Rome in 1870. That is why Vatican City is a separate country, completely surrounded by the city of Rome which is part of the Italian State.

The Holy Land was promised to the Jewish people and absolutely no human being on this earth has a right to relinquish even one inch of this land," Gerlitzky stated.Benedict seems very ignorant of the promises of YHvH.

Good for the Rabbi! He knows God's Word. Why doesn't the Pope know the Bible? There is no way he can know it and say what he did. So much for being infallible.

In a previous thread, where Pope Benedict asserted the human right to life per natural law, I gave him a bravo. But in this, he is being a fool. Islam cannot be appeased, and that is exactly what he is doing. Even worse, he is pitting Catholics against the truth on a very important political issue - and one which the Left will be sure to exploit.
