Born and raised in Mozambique and now a naturalized U.S. citizen, Serodio, 45, has filed a lawsuit against a New Jersey medical school, claiming he was harassed and ultimately suspended for identifying himself during a class cultural exercise as a "white African-American."

When hyphenated labels started popping up like weeds, I knew then that it was a stupid, pointless exercise. I guess some people just can’t be happy with being an “American”.
Take a genetics class in any USA medical school.
You will be instructed that the mitochondrial DNA of every American can be traced to Africa.
That's what a medical school gets for conducting a cultural exercise.
Looks like a misapplication of at least 440 volts to me....

I read a newspaper article which described a British subject, a resident of Jamaica, as an “African American”. I also have in my possession a hardbound book, written by a college professor and published by a University press, which contains the sentence : “He [Richard Wright, the famous author] felt pride when he learned that the ancient Egyptians were African American”. Just mull over that sentence for awhile...
