London suffering from shocking rise in rare 'Victorian' diseases

London is suffering a startling rise in diseases associated with Victorian times, official figures reveal today.

Rare infectious illnesses including typhoid, whooping cough and scarlet fever have soared by 166 per cent in the past two years, with the number of cases of mumps - a disease easily prevented with vaccine - rising from 125 in 2007 to 393 last year - an increase of 214 per cent.

“But I still don’t understand the need or desire to compel it for others.”

Innoculations are not 100% effective, on an individual-by-individual level. For best protection, everyone is vaccinated so as to break the “chain” of infection. It’s called “herd immunity.”

Are you aware of the federal insurance fund to pay damages for the statistically-expected deaths of children receiving mandatory inoculations?

It's a very small number that die. But if you're the parent of the unfortunate child, it's 100%. The odds are better than any lottery that you'll 'win'. And the numbers are fudged to make the possibility seem remote, I believe. The medical and governmental health orgs, and pharmaceutical interests will work hard to prove that the inoculation was in no way responsible for the dead or damaged kid. Parents often know better. A lot of them. Including me. And we all have the same story to tell: "they said it wasn't...could not have been the shot". It happens a lot. A lot more often than you think.

I'm reminded of the miracle of Ritalin.

"If it doesn't do any good...it'll do no harm."

Not what any PDR has to say about it.

I and mine are a link that you shall never close in that chain. Sorry.

And I do not believe that a physician can tell with certitude that a given child is, or is not, sensitive. I have been lied to. If it is a reliable test, why not give it universally? Expensive? If it saves one kid....

And you (probably) live free of disease because of the good will of your neighbors who have taken the small risk of a vaccine to keep your safe.

In short, you are a freeloader. You should be proud.

“My oldest daughter travels the world ...a merchant officer. Hasn’t had an innoculation since she was four. She’s jes fine. She knows the risks. Her body, her choice. {no fetus involved.} She is no risk to others protected by inoculation.”

I find it suprising that she can find work in the merchant marines without taking her immunizations.

I owe nothing to anyone who protects himself.

And none owe me for what I do to protect myself....from which they may benefit. That persons are free to do what is in their own self-interest benefits all. It goes both ways. Your statement betrays an unhealthy...for everyone...demand to conform to your will.

The only occupation I know of where compliance with immunization is mandatory, is the US military...under threat of courts-marshal, or prison.

Other nations may prohibit entry of un-immunized persons. She'd be quarantined to the ship at port. She has not had a problem that I know of.

Would that our nation exercised the same caution at our southern borders.

Yes. Of course the death of any child from an inoculation is a tremendous tragedy. The death of a child from measles is tragic as well. The federal insurance pays for about 75 deaths per year. That is .0023% of the kids vaccinated in the US in a year. Even if the true rate of deaths is several times higher it is less than what a disease outbreak in a non-vaccinated population would cause. Measles alone still kills 250,000 kids around the world every year.

OK, SV,

btw....a large part of the resurgence in these viruses is strongly suspected to be the result of mutation, and immunity to available vaccines.

Health orgs will throw out 'facts' about how many people would die if vaccine X was not administered. When I was researching information about this 25 years ago, I came upon some authoritative published research that indicated that vaccines actually had a very limited role in the war against viral infections like polio, etc, and that the epidemics tended to ebb as the population's natural, collective body-defenses kicked in.

The fact is, that a lot of the conclusions and assertions taken as authoritative are, in fact, guesses.

My own experience with the medogovernmentopharmaceutical regime tells me the death rate from vaccination is a lot higher...along with the rate of brain damage that that bunch would never take the credit for. "Your kid was whack before the shot..it's natural for you to feel this way....but it's not the shot."

In other words, 'bug-off, pest...oh and don't make us call you an ignorant dufus by pressing the issue....'

I've just met too many people with stories like mine to believe that the procedure is safe...or as effective as commonly believed. And I've spoken, since, to medical professionals...including the president and CEO of a bio-tech firm: a military officer in charge of defending against biological-warfare threats ...who tell me my observations, and conclusions drawn therefrom, are not without merit.

Polio has existed since nearly the dawn of time, and has infected countless millions of people. You're telling me that it is a complete coincidence that polio has essentially been wiped out in the fifty years since Salk invented the vaccine?

Consider influenza. It, too, has been around for, probably, the same span of epochal time. It comes in waves...it survives by mutation...it is defeated by the process of natural immunization among human and other populations....then re-surges. It's a battle that is never won.

There was, in a book upon the subject which I read some decades ago, which postulated that Salk received accolades and emoluments for something he and his vaccine had little to do with...

I'm not saying that no one should get vaccinated. One should weigh the evidence, assess the risk, and decide for him/herself. In my case, I've determined that the risk exceeds the benefit. My children and their children? That's for them to decide.

Most off-putting is the way the 'establishment' ....with that same species of mind that tells us to give up our guns to curb 'violence', and insure our mutual prosperity through higher taxes......pours out dubious facts to encourage and mandate vaccination.

For example, in an article I just read, it is asserted that the best way to combat the mutated forms of these resurgent viruses is to command that everyone be inoculated with available stocks of old-model vaccines. The author states that it's our best shot. Maybe. Guesswork. Which program, if they could do it, would be rammed down your and my throat, under penalty for refusal, by the likes of the W.H.O. It's all they got. They have degrees, white lab coats, and authority: you can trust them. :^)
