"Cheney plans to continue his public role as Obama's chief critic on these issues. He will formally appeal the CIA's decision to withhold the memos, and on May 21 he will pop out of his dungeon once again to give a speech that promises to offer his most comprehensive defense yet of Bush administration's war on terror policies."

I've got the popcorn ready! LOL

Cheney was my candidate for POTUS...it's unfortunate that his health and/or desire prevented him from running.

*******Others on the left, though, want Cheney to keep talking. “As long as he remains the public face of the Republican Party, it will remind voters of why they elected Obama,” wrote Darrell West, a vice president at the Brookings Institution. ************

I thought they elected Obama to destroy America. I admit he is doing s damned good job of that.

The Obama administration is forgetting something very important. Working for Bush wasn’t Cheney’s first Rodeo. If anyone is wired into the DOD and the intelligence services, it’s Cheney.

Cheney is now a private citizen of these United States. He has a right to speak out against policies he believes and knows to be wrong. He has a RIGHT. Maybe dowd doesn’t know what that word means. it means she has a RIGHT to put her dribble into a newspaper or mag as well. So, she had better get used to Cheney cause he is IN DA HOUSE!!!

The former Vice President is filling a void in the spineless Republican Party, reflecting just how weak the current Republican leadership is.

I’ll bring the beer! I like Cheney, and I believe it is because of him that all this ruffling of the feathers is going on. Zero probably thought he’d get away with the national security issues by standing up there & speaking with that evil grinch-like smile of his. Smiling & telling us the country is safe...that is until Cheney came along & ruined his day!

8 years of unanswered lies and attacks against Bush worked well for the Dems. A couple years of truthful attacks against Obama will work for the GOP. Negative campaigns work.

If Cheney was so ineffective, then why is Obama flipping on numerous national security issues????? Obama knows his stupid plans are doomed for disastrous results, and the Cheney attacks on them will highlight who exactly is to blame if they do happen.

Virtually every liberal pundit on Rahm Emmanuel's e-mail list has now echoed this week's talking point: Dick Cheney is awful, terrible, bad Bad BAD for the Republicans! So bad, in fact that GOP'ers are themselves deeply ashamed and cringing at his every word!!! "My God, why won't he just go away?"

And yet, every Republican I've spoken to or heard comment (with the exception of the Washington RINOcracy) has been ecstatic that finally, someone in our deeply depressed party is willing to stand up for the very same principles and ideas that motivated the greatest President of our lifetimes: Ronald Wilson Reagan.

The truth is, Dick Cheney is Viagra for Republicans; a figure at whom our soft noodles in Washington seethe not with anger, but jealousy. He is also an adult presently in the company of children at a time when father figures are routinely belittled but have never been more desperately needed.

Cheney, she writes, is "batty," has "numskull ideas," and "still loves torture."

Pelosi waterboard

Yeah. Cheney loves to torture, especially Democrats!

All of this, we are told, is hurting Republicans.

If Maureen Dowd is worried about republicans, then I better start worrying too. She, of course, wants the best for republicans and we can't have an "evil" old man destroying the party.

We should have Maureen going around the country giving speeches to republicans and conservatives about how to save the party. After all, who would know better about conservatism than Dowd? She cares about us. She really, really cares.

I’ll take Dick Cheney over the entire Republican party . I’m also very impressed with daughter ,Liz. She makes Meghan McCain look even more dopey than she is.

This nation has been under assault from within. Bush was blind to it and did nothing to defend us from "enemies...domestic."

Yeah, negative campaigns work real well when the incumbent refuses to defend himself.

You’re right. Cheney is the only one I see with Republican principals and he is not afraid to speak about them.

Liz Cheney is the complete package. Based upon her recent TV appearances and her ability to handle antagonistic interviewers, what a candidate for office she would make.

What Cheney did, and why the left really wants him to shut-up, is he put any national security lapses on the Obama admin.

The Obama admin knows that they have taken actions that put us on unsteady footing regarding preventing terrorist attacks, but they doubled down on the presumption we will be safe and that any attacks could be placed at the feet of the previous admin.

Cheney laying down the gauntlet takes that argument off the table, or at least makes it harder to sell. The admin knows that the training wheels are now off and they have to make this country safe.
