GOP sounds alarm on Latino voter gap [Graham, Steele, Martinez, Crist] [amnesty] [RINO wars]

The Republican Party has scarcely begun to repair a wound that threatens to confine it to minority status: its 2006 collapse among Hispanic voters.

Driven by some Republicans’ sharp attacks on illegal immigration and — as many Hispanics perceived it, immigrants in general — Latino voters fled the GOP en masse in the midterm elections, then turned on John McCain, as well.

. . . . .

There are stirrings of a Republican response. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has spoken with Hispanic leaders about creating a new organization to back Latino candidates. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has made minority outreach a priority at the RNC. And some Republicans see an opening if Obama continues to defer action on overhauling immigration.

. . . . .

A spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Brian Walsh, said that candidate recruitment for 2010 is still under way and noted that Martinez himself had endorsed Crist, in part for his moderate stance on immigration.

But Graham, who said he sympathized with the Senate Republican leadership’s decision to back a candidate with a good chance of winning, also raised concerns about the Florida decision.

“The key for our party is to have Hispanic candidates to carry our banner,” Graham said. “I don’t blame them for trying to make sure we don’t lose another seat in Florida. But at the same time, clearly Mr. Rubio is the type of person who would lead our party in Florida and the country to a new level.”

Graham said he’s considering forming a political action committee, or some other entity, aimed at recruiting strong Hispanic Republican candidates.

So you give them amnesty and then they still vote for liberals and grow the welfare state even further thru the roof.

Then what?

Yeah, brilliant strategy.

If Latinos/Hispanics won’t vote for you because you won’t back an illegal amnesty, then throw overboard the rule of law to pander for their votes (as if illegals would ever align themselves with Republicans anyway.)

Meanwhile stick your thumb in the eyes of your base, who will have to subsidize the illegals. Pick up one vote for every 10 votes you run off.

Brilliant.

Nice to see the handful of Rino’s having meetings with one another.

Meanwhile, the American people would like to see the current federal immegration law enforced with hopes of returning their neighborhoods to 1st world status.

Strong Hispanic Republican candidates....
translation...open border, hispandering rinos!

How many elections do these morons have to lose before they figure out the American people have had enough of their open border/pandering politics!

This really only applies to Catholic Hispanics.

There is no substantial issue with Protestant Hispanics, even against the Obama wave Republicans still won 48% of the Hispanic Protestant vote.

The Republicans need to look at how the Latino votes in Mexico. That’s how they will vote here, for the most part. In Mexico, they vote for anyone that states that they will take care of them.

If Latinos wouldn’t vote for Juan McAmnesty why would anyone think pandering on illegal immigration would win them over?

If the GOP wants to win over Latinos:

1) Focus on issues like abortion and same sex marriage. Most Latinos are Catholics and are conservative on these issues.

2) Remind them that they won’t benefit from amnesty. The current system (if enforced) is more favorable to Latino immigrants who are American citizens, because they can petition for their close relatives. If amnesty is passed they will lose that advantage and their family members will have to wait in line behind the 12 million illegals and in line with the family members of those 12 million illegals.

3) Continue to point out how liberalism has devestated minority communities.

4) Be the party that talks to Latinos (and blacks) like adults, instead of pandering to them and treating them like helpless children.

5) Explain the benefits of conservative principles, to them, just like anyone else. Our ideas are better, if we continue to clearly and persuasively present them, people will gradually be won over to them.

These GOP `masterminds’ remind me of the story of the guy in a bar hoping to take home this beautiful blonde bombshell.
They’re watching the 10 o’clock news and he says,
“See that guy standing on the ledge? I’m betting he jumps. If he jumps, you’ll come home with me, OK?”
She says, “He’ll never jump ... OK.”

The suicide jumps to his death, so they get ready to leave.

The guy says, “Hey, weren’t you here at 6 when they ran that story the first time? I thought I saw you ...”
And she replies, “Yeah. I didn’t think he’d be stupid enough to do it again.”

The latino vote could be problematic going forward thanks to the politicians who have coddled illegals over the years and allowed them to lay down roots unmolested by the law. That has led to them having a lot of citizen offspring. Go to a kindergarden in central NC. There are an absurd number of latinos and you can bet that most have illegal parents. Those kids will be eligible to vote before long. Millions of them nationwide. And given the way they breed millions more will come onto the voter rolls before long.
