I’ve seen a number of these stories lately where some deranged and desperate dad takes his whole family out with him... and it seems to me that these men (usually men, though occasionally women) do not so much love their children, but rather think they “own” their children. They leave notes saying that no one else would take care of their children so well and so forth. This is the height of deluded self-importance. I mention this “ownership” syndrome because I see it here occasionally on FR, where people make comments such as, “Who owns your children, you or the state?”
People, no one OWNS their children!!! Children are individuals from Day 1, with their own rights as humans. We as parents are privileged to protect them, enjoy their company, care for them, provide for them, and guide them to adulthood as best we may (hopefully with little interference from our government). But NO ONE OWNS his or her children!
Sigh. /rant
Geez, where do they get these people?
Tell that to the Obamaniacs.
They are quite sure they DO own YOUR children. Just ask any lib teacher. Or the UN Child Rights types.
Bulls eye your characterization of “experts”.
If that’s love, I don’t want it. (I am thankful that my Godly husband has a much more Christ-like approach to love.)
Drive By Media gets a jump on Father’s Day stories.
Facing financial doom is not the end of the world. There are relatives, your church, public assistance, food stamps, bankruptcy if necessary. Nobody starves in America, unless by their own choice or recklessness.
'Hopeless' dads kill their families out of love...of self! Real bonding is selfless.
Anything short of a Masada-like situation and I’m just not buying it.
And then there is the opposite side of the coin when it’s the mother. What then?

Bingo. The only "love" involves is self-love and total self centeredness. I am so sick and tired of these "experts" making it's society's fault because these "good and loving" parents are driven to despair, blah, blah, blah. We just need to give the "experts" more money to identify and help these poor desperate yet "loving" men.
It's a crock of psychobabble bullshiite.
