You know, I was cooking and heard ABC news in the background saying that the auto makers didn’t balk at this.
....and I’m thinking. THAT’S because the cars they make now will be outlawed and they get to sell everyone a governmentally-acceptable automobile.
Never again will I buy GM. I’m funding everyone’s pension fund but my own: UAW, CTA, Social Security (which will be broke by the time I retire), Public employees in general, etc., etc, etc.

The Federal government does not care one bit how much this will increase costs for the average American. The people who want these standards are the environmental lobbies, which support the Democrats big time. I can accept that point. Take away freedoms, make the masses more dependent on government.
If people can`t move out of high tax States or be mobile enough to work further from home then they become trapped and look to big brother to help them.
