I know this will sound stupid, but I am genuinely surprised that “home-grown” terrorists, who appear to be African-American, went through with this now that Obama is president. I assumed Obama’s presidency would make no difference to foreign terrorists (and that his weak stance may even invite terrorism). But, since home-grown terrorists are recruited by preying on their disaffection, I would have really expected them to do an about-face now that “the man” is out of power.

There is a Black Muslim compound in New York State that Gates of Vienna had an article on, part of a series on Jamaat ul-Fuqra (links to the other articles in the series are along the left margin of the web page). I wonder if there's any connection with these guys.
