Did Adam Lambert's Sexuality Cost Him American Idol Title? (Here it comes)
US Magazine ^ | May 21, 2009

That's the argument raging online.

"It's difficult not to wonder if Lambert's sexuality played a role in Allen's victory," the Chicago Tribune's TV critic writes. "Though he never said whether he was gay, pictures of Lambert kissing other men appeared on the Internet during Season 8.

"If Lambert's popularity on Idol was any indication of how tolerant and accepting America has become, his loss may indicate there's still further to go," continues the Tribune writer.

Adds pro poker player (and recent Celebrity Apprentice runner-up) Annie Duke: "I seriously think Adam lost just because he is gay. Bummed. Bummed. Bummed."

Blog Examiner.com labels Lambert as "polarizing," stating: "Adam was too gay for America."

Lambert once again dodged questions on how his sexuality may have played into the results.

When asked his thoughts about blogs saying, 'If he wins [it's] because he's gay, or if he loses [it's] because he's gay,' Lambert told reporters jokingly: "Is that what they're gonna say? Those blogs have a lot of opinions, don't they? I think that Kris won because he's a great artist and I was happy to be a runner-up to that.

"If there's anything that can come from this experience, and I hope that all the fans out there can pick up on, is that even if you're really different, there's a way to get along with each other," Lambert continued. "And it's not about 'Oh, you beat me because of this,' or 'You, you're different.' It's about finding the common stuff that makes it work."

Ryan Seacrest pointed out on May 13's episode that, of the 88 million votes cast that week, only 1 million separated Allen and Lambert. In an Usmagazine.com poll of 84,000 readers Tuesday, the contestants were virtually tied.

I knew this was coming, and the liberal Adam fans are out already accusing those, as one said, "bible thumping conservatives" of voting against Adam because he is gay.

Funny comment at the website though.

A lib says:

To quote the "brit bloke" that america loves to hate... "this is a singing contest." American Idol is NOT a contest of "how masculine are you" nor is it a "how manly do you dress" contest. It is a contest of vocal talent. Both Adam and Kris have an amazing gift, albeit different styles. In my opinion both are equally talented. I also found them both to have very sweet dispositions, and both were very easy to listen to. If anything that either of them does in their "off time" had anything to do with who won or lost, it is a pity. It makes me sad that a country that prides itself on it's "acceptance of diversity" would lower itself to let something like the possibility of a contestant's sexuality being different from their own waver how they voted. As far as I am concerned, if Adam is as he appeared to be on the show (and I have a feeling he probably is) then regardless of his sexual orientation, he'd be the type of person that I would be proud to call a son-in-law... whether he be a partner to my daughter, or my son!

A conservative then says:

Shut the hell up you liberal waste of skin.

LOL!

It’s not a singing contest. It’s all PT Barnum.

It could be that, or it could be that a lot of people couldn’t stand the constant shrieking with his tongue hanging out. The other kid is just more commercial and main stream. Glambert or whatever they are calling him belongs in a Vegas show or other similar venues.

Did many people vote FOR or against Obama because he was/is supposedly black?

I think I liked the show better back when it was called, “Star Search.”

Well said. So-called 'diversity' is a wedge to keep us separated into groups. Focusing on our differences is futile. It is the things we have in common that are important.

No, it's not a singing contest at all. Sure, they compete at singing, but it's really a pure popularity contest - who can become an "Idol" and seell the most records.

That's why they named the show what they did. If people want to buy more records from the straight guy than the fag, the straight guy SHOULD win.

Didn’t watch any of it, but he sounds classier than his fans. it would be nice if he stayed that way.

I’d say the “voted FOR because of skin color” outnumbered the “voted against because of skin color”

by about 100 to 1.

You knew this would be coming. But the question that needs to be asked is, was he suppose to win because of his sexuality? I dont know what his sexuality is and I dont know of him ever stating it. So those that are implying that he is gay, they are guilty of something they hate, which is profiling. With that said he did have a great voice. What bothered me is his screaming. He sounded like a cat in heat. Kris showed he was more talented, by playing guitar and piano and being able to sing. Adam was more of a performer that musician. I think the right winner was picked and not because of ideology or sexual preference.

Exactly. Does anyone in their right mind think that if Elvis was gay, that wouldn’t have had just a wee bit of impact on his popularity?

I think I liked the show better back when it was called, “Star Search.”

It was better yet when Chuck Barris hosted it and Jaye P. Morgan would ring the big bell thing when she didn't like an act.

“Did Adam Lambert’s Sexuality Cost Him American Idol Title?”

I think he lost in spite of it.

Every media outlet I read that covered this season was raving about his hair and eyeliner. And gushing how nice it would be to have the gay guy win. Then America voted. And they voted for who they thought sang better.

In spite of the ‘pushing the gay guy’, the other kid won. Let the cries of ‘homophobe’ commence.

Adam might not have won AI but he won none the less by getting a recording deal and a fan base that should buy what ever crap he puts out. And as Hollyweird is run by the GAY MAFIA, he’ll have allies that should help him navigate the bath houses and glory holes that can help him succeed in the slimy music biz. I am sure Ryan Seacrest will be the first one in line to “help” Adam.

And let us not forget that Adam’s image was CRAFTED by the producers at AI. If they didn’t want Adam to look queer, they wouldn’t have let him use the eyeliner etc. If you forgot, the show is heavily scripted and nothing is left for chance.

What this year’s results have shown :

1. Young straight girls like straight young handsome charming guy, but not gays.

2. Ditto for straight cougars.

3. Lesbians don’t like straight guys, but they don’t like gay guys either (so they were neutral fence sitters)

4. While straight guys, young or old, don’t necessarily “like” straight guys, but they must almost hate gay guys.

5. Gay guys actually “prefer” to “like” straight young handsome charming guy more than fellow gay guys.

So you see, few like or vote for gays, not even themselves and remember the greatest love of all is when you love yourself.
