Compare for example Ann Coulter to Dinesh D'Souza.

Who?

But he doesn't get the attention Ann gets.

Indeed!

But; after seeing the YouTube with OBAMA voters* giving THEIR grasp of current events; do we REALLY need intelligent, well-reasoned poeple to sway minds?

I'm not sure...

Reason and rhetoric are not opposed to one another. When communicated effectively and persuasively, a well-reasoned argument is better than an argument that is aimed below the belt. It means you can look at yourself in the morning because you have not demeaned yourself and your opponent. We're better than that. Why lower ourselves to the level of our opponents?

By the way, if you are not aware of Dinesh D'Souza, you should get acquainted with his work. He's a bestselling author and easily one of the most important conservative voices in the public square today. His website is here.

I think Mr. Keyes is over reacting and misinterpreting Ann's title. He presumes she is engaging in a dig at him. I know she and Alan are allies in the abortion struggle—just read her column. I think the title is a bit of irony. Rather than promoting President Obama by giving him a platform at a prestigious Catholic University, the speaking engagement promoted Alan Keye’s protest of it, and by association, the pro-life movement. Ann does not imply that Alan Keyes received any remuneration. Rather, the title implies Notre Dame's ill thought promotion of President Obama helped the pro-life movement.

The CP people are cowards and thieves. These bozos once had me fooled, too. Not any more.

Really? And who are they stealing from? And do you measure courage by the willingness to get the USA involved where it doesn't need to be? Where other nations can take care of the problem? I thought you, like me, didn't believe in bail-outs.

I would urge all fair-minded FReepers to read beyond the excerpt for the full story.

I suspect "someone" is making a nickel for each site hit to the source reference.

Why lower ourselves to the level of our opponents?

What's to 'lower' if you gain voters?

It is obvious to me that Thinkers on both sides of the aisle are vastly out numbered by Feelers that make up the swing vote.

You missed my earlier point. I think Ann is LOSING us voters. Why do you think the MSM loves to feature her as a representative conservative pundit? Because she is a caracature -- a straw man prop -- who is easy to dismiss.

Show me any data that she is gaining voters. I don't see it happening.

Yes, I agree with your points on the caricature - she's a thin decent looking blonde conservative chick with some attitude - to put it plainly, thus, they like the fodder to the Left. (reminds me of when al Quieda pushes the false report of Gitmo flushing Korans - enflames Muzzies so well.)

I feel she has value, nonetheless, as someone not ashamed to speak to absurdity of the evil propagated as 'mainstream' as she did in this article in question (nothing to do with Keyes).
