If she is the most liberal out of the ones being considered, this could also be a canard. She could be the sacrificial lamb that gets rejected and then he sends up his real (and just as liberal) nominee. Don’t discount this. Remember, Harriet Meirs was not a win for the dumbocrats because we got Alito whom they hate.

I actually thought of that option as well. The timing of this doesn't make sense.

the Dems are so devious, this could in fact be the case. Ben Nelson could even be part of the strategy. Why else would he so publicly challenge the activism of the pick right before it was announced.

Negative comments by clerks...Bully on the bench, bad temperament etc.....With a little luck she won't be as accommodating as the liberals are expecting.

I don’t think Obama can afford to have a SCOTUS nominee go down this early in his presidency. And the Dems in the Senate are not about to let that happen.

I’m not too sure what all the fuss is about, anyway. Obama got elected, we knew we’d get liberal nominees, and in any case, with Souter as the Justice being replaced, the balance won’t change. At least the person filling that seat will be a Dem appointee .. I’m tired of hearing how Republican appointed justices did this and that ...when those include Stevens and Souter.
