Sotomayor Video: Judges Make Policy, Latinas Better Than Whites

Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama's pick to become the newest Supreme Court justice, is on the record with some controversial remarks about 'diversity,' 'judicial activism' and female judges vs. male judges.

For example, the New York Times reported that in 2001, at the annual Judge Mario G. Olmos Law and Cultural Diversity Lecture, Sotomayor had this to say:

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

“Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences,” she said later, regarding non-white, female judges, “our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging.”

Also, there is a 2005 video of Sotomayor, speaking with potential law clerks, saying that a “court of appeals is where policy is made.” She added: “And I know — I know this is on tape, and I should never say that because we don’t make law. I know. O.K. I know. I’m not promoting it. I’m not advocating it ...”

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

With people like these there is always a use of “man” or “woman” to describe anyone considered to be, in that idiotic turn of phrase “ a person of color” Hand in hand with that, especially when talking of white men, these folks use “male” rather than “man”.

Always. That isn’t by accident, either. I challenge it whenever I hear/see it.

Just imagine the weeping and gnashing of teeth if Samuel Alito had made the following statement:

I would hope that a wise Italian-American man with the richness of his experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a minority female who hasn’t lived that life.

While she did say "I would hope that.....", her misassumption that she'd (a latina) could make a better decision than a white man because of the circumstance of her having magically 'lived' the situation being judged is foolish and shows her true bent on her position of judging.

Maybe is certain narrow circumstances her personal experience might allow her to be more informed. However, there are many other situations of which she'd have no clue. For example, the plight of hard working WHITE people that have no affirmative action to push forward their children, admit them and pay for college with minority scholarships with other peoples' money, give them preferential treatment in hiring and promotion all for a checkmark against some divisory racial category. No Ms Latina Sotomayor, I think the deep and responsible job of being a Supreme Court Justice demands neutrality for all except the letter and word of the Constitution, in which no mention is made of rights based on race or minority status - only that of CITIZEN. For every step forward radical racially based appointments like these, there are 10 steps backwards in the eyes of those of us that have been relegated to non-special status.

It’s clear whites will be less equal before the law.

I hope we bash her unmercifully.

The description with which she needs to be painted is “RADICAL LEFTIST.” Everytime a Conservative is asked about her they need to use those words.
