U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison says Sonia Sotomayor statements "very troubling"

LUBBOCK, Texas — U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said Tuesday she finds "very troubling" statements she says Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor has made in the past 11 years that federal judges are able to "change policy." Hutchison, in Lubbock to speak on transportation issues, was one of 29 senators — all Republicans — who in 1998 voted against confirming Sotomayor to be a judge on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan. Sotomayor eventually was confirmed. Hutchison said her vote against Sotomayor then was about Sotomayor's "judicial activism" as a district court judge.

But she said she will look "afresh" at Sotomayor's full record and give her a "fair hearing."

"I will listen to the full content of her record, but I will not vote for anyone that I believe has a record in the last 11 years of judicial activism," Hutchison said.

Good for Kay Baily Huchinson! Republicans need to stand up against this nomination. This pick was racially motivated and the fact is Obama chose a radical woman for the Supreme Court.

I have to agree with that. The whole nomination is troubling. What have the people who voted this clown into office gotten us into?

Dear Senator Hutchison,

Soytomayor’s statements were more than “very troubling,” ma’am.
In fact, they were downright outrageous and disgusting.

My .5 cents worth.

Sonia Sotomayor seems so wacky that if the RINOs hold tight we may be able to pick off a democrat and shoot her down. Very unlikely, but she has said some very wacky stuff, and its on video so FOX and the internet is going to be all over it.

She and all the other RINOs (McCain, Snowe, Grahamnesty, etc..) will vote to confirm her. Count on it!

That video is frightening. She is not upholding her duties if she really is out to make policy and not uphold laws and the constitution.

I’d like to know where she stands on issues and her heritage means nothing to me. She had made controversial decisions.

Anyone gone through her taxes yet? She won’t be qualified to be in the Obama administration unless she’s cheated on her taxes.

It would also be helpful if she once employed an illegal alien as a housekeeper, nanny or gardener. Then she’d be in like flint.

The KBH modus operandi:

" Very troubling, blah, blah blah..."

KBH gets tons of hispanic hate mail and conducts statewide opinion polls on the matter to show concerned interest in "vetting" the nominee.

"After listening to her confirmation hearing testimony, I've concluded that my initial concerns were unfounded. She will make a fine Supreme Court Justice, blah, blah, blah..."

KBH, along with the vast majority of the republicrat senate votes Yea with unbridled enthusiasm.

Rinse. Repeat.

I have no confidence in KBH!

She has lost all my trust.

Well, at least there’s one person, somewhere, with some authority, who’s paying attention to what the eff is going on in this country under this hopelessly benighted administration.

I just read an article on Fox News web site by Ken Blackwell. According to that, She does NOT support the Right to own and bear firearms. Does the NRA know anything about her background?

I haven’t heard anything specifically from the NRA; I have no doubt, however, they’ll be putting together a vetting packet soon, and will have some sort of public position in place before much longer. Maybe another day or two, as a guess.

Just dang, I would say she is and probably just as troubling as Kay ‘stop the Fence” Bailey Hutchinson.
