Kettering (OH) Attorney Indicted on 12 Charges of Obscenity
Department of Justice ^ | May 27, 2009 | United States Attorney's Office Southern District of Ohio

DAYTON, OH—A federal grand jury here has indicted Marc Norman Greenberg, 32, Centerville, alleging that he transmitted obscene images in interstate commerce between February and April 2009.

Gregory G. Lockhart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio; Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau ofInvestigation (FBI), announced the indictment returned yesterday.

The indictment alleges that Greenberg used computers at his home and office to engage in graphic sexual conversations and to transmit obscene images. Greenberg sent these images to individuals whom Greenberg believed were underage females, but were actually law enforcement officers conducting undercover investigations.

The indictment also seeks forfeiture of all computer and related storage and transmission equipment used to commit the crimes.

Conviction on each count carries a maximum punishment of 10 years imprisonment and the possibility of a lifetime of supervised release. Conviction would also mean Greenberg, who is an attorney in Kettering, would have to register as a sexual offender.

Judge Thomas M. Rose will preside over the case. Judge Rose will set a date for arraignment. Greenberg is currently on bond.

Lockhart commended the FBI agents who conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mona Guerrier, who is prosecuting the case. Lockhart alsoacknowledged the cooperation of the Dayton Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Kettering Police Departmentfor their assistance in the investigation, and the assistance of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the New York State Police, and the FBI Detroit Division.

Pedophiles trawling the Internet are a danger to kids. This one was caught just in time!

Odd, the way I read it I can only see one consenting adult sending dirty pictures to other consenting adults.

But he’s going to jail for life.

A bit over the top, no?

Should law enforcement employ minors to catch predators on the internet?

You’re right. Although he clearly intended to send smut to underage females he actually sent them to an adult, who happened to be an FBI agent.
When are these pervs going to realize that half the underage females on the Internet are FBI agents?

I found a report with additional details here.

There is a reader comment at that site,

This individual was my cross examing attorney for a few years. He accused me of being a child abuser, drug abuser, and a horrible parent to my mental ill child.

Guess it takes one to know one.

The same thing happened to me. But I have no doubts that Liberals will make obesity a crime sometime over the next few years. They are outlawing smoking a cigarette in bars and restaurants. When they succeed in legalizing marijuana, they will probably make it illegal to possess or smoke a cigarette. And then the crime of fat will be coming soon after that.

No, but I happen to believe if you’re going to send a man to jail for life the crime he committed should be very severe indeed.

Sending smutty photos to cops doesn’t rank up there with terrorism, murder or rape in my book.

But then I don’t get whipped up by hysterical witch hunts like a lot of people seem to do.
