“Are you suggesting that it’s therefore OK American soldiers act that way? “
No, of course not. Hence the “they’re isolated incidents” portion of my post.
Anyone who thinks that soldiers or even prison guards will act 100% for the good aren’t being realistic. It’s unfortunate, but it will happen...and the media will blow it up to make it look like the entire army acts that way.
Interesting comment. This does sound more like a gay S&M turn on than something a straight man would get off on...
I wonder if there will be a "study" funded by large grants to find the truth?
Just kidding - dems and the MSM NEVER look for something they don't want to find... Now if it was "right-wingers" doing this - or southerners - or those who went to a military school - or the sons of people who owned handguns - the New York Times would be on it like white on rice.
The MSM knows who it hates - and who gets passes...
If the soldiers doing this were of the "don't ask, don't tell" group - the MSM would be horribly conflicted. They hate the military - but love the gays. (Same with cars - "SUV kills six" is something you'll read - but you'll NEVER read, "Prius kills old woman". Because the Prius is a "teacher's pet - "get a pass" car. And SUV's aren't)
To take it back to fraternity hazing (which Rush drew flames for bringing into the discussion of Abu Ghraib), there is a homoerotic subtext to that "torture" too.
No one on this forum is justify rape or physical abuse. This is NOT the same debate as the waterboarding issue.
There have been bogus charges alleged by members of Al Qaida. It’s in their handbook (which you can read on The Smoking Gun dot com).
There have also been genuine attrocities.
There have also been treasonous members of the military who acted on their own impulse to kill members of the US military and otherwise besmerch the mission in Iraq. This does NOT get much play.
We won’t even get into the absolute media memory hole when it comes to the butchered Blackwater employees and other contractors murdered by terrorists in Iraq.

The war crime investigation is strictly a one way street. We SHOULD prosecute our criminals. We should ALSO prosecute the enemy for THEIR warcrimes and put THEM on the front page. Hand ringing only serves the cause of propaganda.
The media doesn’t give a s&*(# about rape that goes on in US prisons on a regular basis even when it is male guards raping teenaged males in Texas reform institutions.
This discussion began over the issue of whether it was possible to raise 30 pounds of dead weight over your head on a bayonet, not whether anyone in war had ever bayoneted children. You felt the need to immediately make personal attacks because you disagreed. Apparently, your first line of argument is personal attacks with people you don’t agree with. You further make claims about your knowledge of history without knowing anything about anyone else’s knowledge. I have a BA and Masters in History, although it is irrelevant on here since an education never makes anyone automatically more knowledgeable than anyone else on any given subject. My only argument against the claim was my doubt it is possible to lift a 30 pound body over your head with the bayonet on an M4.
It appears I may be confused about who was being accused of doing it, and whether it was an American soldier or the enemy.
“Oh no no no. The book was about the rebels/government soldiers/who-knows-whats and the civil war in Darfur.”
Ok, my error. Thanks for the clarification. It is possible a child in Darfur would be so emaciated from lack of food they would only weight about 15 pounds.
I don’t believe it....bs
Unfortunately there are people that will. Like this:
