Let us not forget the 4,196 American soldiers who died in the Philippine American War.
God continue to bless and protect our troops.
My wife is on many military forums. One of her "buddies" is a mom that had a chance to speak to her son, he's in Iraq and yesterday a suicide bomber got dangerously close. No troops were injured but it freaked everyone out. (I think the bomber blew himself up as he was getting caught, but I can't listen to exact details for I'm an ostrich.)
I have a son-in-law in Afghanistan (Marine) and a Son in South Korea (Army).
Dittos !
Long legged Mac Daddy !
Of course I’m concerned but this post was more about how the media has seemingly lost interest in Iraq, comparing it to the earlier years. You can’t cover every issue in every post.
My son will be going to Iraq in September. Some people in an effort to be comforting say “At least it’s not Afghanistan.” It is of no comfort whatsoever. My worry is that things will heat up as we are drawing down and the last of our forces there could become embroiled in a nightmare. I have little confidence in this arrogant administration. I am furious that the press does not question this administration on anything. And am sad that so many Americans are oblivious.
Your son will be fine I'm sure.
Check out the blogs of other moms, Donna gets comfort from them.
Joy that is shared is multiplied, Sadness (or fear) that is shared is divided.
SECOND HALF OF THE 20th CENTURY AND 21st CENTURY FACT OF LIFE:
When a Republican is President, the greatest force multiplier of America's enemies is the American liberal news media.
My son-in-law has been in Iraq since last September, due to come home next week. It was a long year but he and my daughter kept in steady communication by phone, email and even live chatting.
God Bless and keep your son safe on his deployment. It’s natural to worry, but I understand your concern with the current (cough, cough) CIC. If things should heat up I’m sure more troops will be sent back, or I would hope so anyway.
Little creepy despots all over the world are slithering out from under their rocks, encouraged by the weakness they see in our leadership now.
Iraq is a mere blip on the screen these days.
There you go, c'mon now you know the rules....
.... and the Democrats will cut and run.
Also, note that North Korea is conducting test firing.
Whatever happened to Obama “The Messiah” that was going to create peace throughout the world?
The consequnces of announcing a staged withdrawal.
If it's any consolation at all, I have been here on the ground for over five years and have been through the worst days here and I'm still in one piece. I've had a couple of close calls, but the worst I have suffered is a scrape on my hand diving into a bunker in the insane days of 2006.
Your son should be OK. Our troops have done an amazing job and the Iraqis for the most part have gotten very fed up with the terrorists and have joined the good guys' side.
I will keep Sam in my prayers.
It’s ‘O’-Bozo’s fault!

Thank you so much and thank you for your service. Sam told me it looks like Iraq was taken off the table a week ago. He’s still in the “hot seat” for deployment. I cannot believe that there is a possibility that the photos from Abu Ghraib could be released nor can I believe that we would read Miranda rights to jihadists rather than question and ask for their cooperation. Nothing makes sense.
