Seeing Chukchi [Palin keeps pushing for energy independence]
IBD ^ | May 29, 2009 | unknown

Energy: As administration officials tilt at windmills and talk of painting our roofs white, a real energy solution has emerged from the Arctic deep. So why has only Alaska's Sarah Palin noticed?

Back in July, when IBD first interviewed the then-little-known governor, Palin emphasized developing Alaska's Chukchi Sea resources. Under those icy waters, it was then believed, was enough oil and gas to supply America for a decade.

[...]

At the time, it was thought that Chukchi's waters northwest of Alaska's landmass held 30 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

Today, Science magazine reports that the U.S. Geological Survey now finds it holds more than anyone thought — 1.6 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered gas, or 30% of the world's supply and 83 billion barrels of undiscovered oil, 4% of the global conventional resources.

That's enough U.S. energy to achieve self-sufficiency and never worry about it as a national security question again.

[...]

The alternative isn't reassuring: If we don't drill, the Russians will. Situated over on the eastern end of the Chukchi Sea, they have global ambitions of dominating the energy trade and no qualms about muscling in on the U.S.

I couldn’t agree more. 2012 can’t come soon enough.

It’s nice to see the word “trillion” refer to something that could actually help us.

Already, undersea volcanic activity has melted much of the Arctic ice cap and enabled more exploration than in the past.

Can't be. We have been told that capitalism melts the arctic ice. And when businesses and industry makes profit they belch out CO2.

This is the 2nd IBD editorial featuring Gov. Palin in the last 3 weeks. IBD has a circulation of about 200,000. This will spread via the internet to far more people than that. If things keep going, as I suspect they will, by the end of the year her favorability rating will be about 58 percent, with another big increase among indepedent voters. People are going to start seeing her in a far different light than that which is presented by the MSM.

Concurring bump. The woman needs a break.

Also, surf over to the blogfight between the British Daily Telegraph and the Obama Administration and its apologists -- several articles here on FR. It seems Fleet Street has changed its collective mind about Zero, and that Americans are ducking around the MSM's full-court press to read British political writers.

One article has some interesting semantic scoring results for MediaRat coverage -- the Noo Yokk Birdcage Liner in particular was found to deliver content favorable to Zero a whopping 75% of the time, in his first 50 days in office. That's idolatry, and the British journalists are stepping up and calling it.

They've been rewarded with official slaps from the Obamarrhoids. Interesting reading.

Oh, everybody has noticed, but most politicians have postured themselves to use the energy "shortage" to get rich. It is in their personal vested interests to keep this crisis going as long as possible.

Palin is a servant, most of our hired politicans have become Masters...
