Sotomayor's a lightweight
World Net Daily ^ | 5/29/09 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 05/30/2009 10:19:04 AM PDT by advance_copy

When you think about it, Sonia Sotomayor is the perfect pick for the Supreme Court – in Barack Obama's America.

Like Obama, himself a beneficiary of affirmative action, she thinks "Latina women," because of their life experience, make better judicial decisions than white men, that discrimination against white men to advance people of color is what America is all about, that appellate courts are "where policy is made" in the United States.

To those who don't believe the depiction of our first Hispanic justice as an anti-white, liberal judicial activist, hearken to her own words.

Speaking at Berkeley in 2001, Sonia told her audience, "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion (as a judge) than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

Imagine if Sam Alito had said at Bob Jones University, "I would hope that a wise white male with the richness of his life experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Hispanic woman, who hasn't lived that life."

Alito would have been toast. No explanation, no apology would have spared him. He would have been branded for life a white bigot.

Judge Sotomayor will be excused because the media agree with her and she is a Latina who will use her court seat to impose upon the nation the values of the National Council of La Raza (The Race), of which she is a member.

Sotomayor covers up her intellectual inadequacy by bullying from the bench.

What else would you expect from Obama?

Heck, I could probably crush her in a debate.

Harriet Miers was a better nominee.

Being a lightweight is the least of her problems. Being an anti-constitutionalist is enough.

The confirmation of this woman will legitimize racism. The silver lining? Perhaps we can now stop being politically correct when it comes to race. So, the next time some lib screams ‘racist’ during a discussion of, say, black-on-black violence, we can collectively point to The Supreme Court and say ‘no, it’s ok to say these things now. My position as a (fill in the blank) gives me a unique perspective to comment on this matter.’. With her confirmation, the days of biting our tongues could be over.

Do we want a smart Communist, or do we want a stupid Communist? Seems to me, we want a stupid Communist. Which is why Sotomayer should be confirmed....

I wonder how in depth of questions she’ll get in her hearings. Personal questions? She’s single since 1983. Does she have a boyfriend? Girlfriend? Is she celebate? They weren’t shy about Clarence Thomas.

What should Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee do?...Lay out the lady's record. And let America get a close look at the kind of justice Barack Obama believes in.

No no no! The Moderate Republicans are telling us to be quiet and not expose obama's radicalism.

She certainly doesn’t appear to have the intellectual firepower that other previous SCOTUS nominees had. Maybe that’s a good thing.

She will be.

What the Republicans should not do is filibuster or mount any strong effort to stop her, and they certainly should not follow the advice of the "moderates" and remain quiet.

What they should do is loudly repeat her own words, shed the light of day on the dirty deed she did to those firefighters, and ask her about those things during the confirmation hearings.

The Pubs should ask the same questions that were asked of conservative judge nominees by Dems in the past. Then when the Dems/press object tell them they are the very questions they asked themselves of Bork, Thomas, Gonzales, etc.

Won't matter but might open some eyes.

She none to smart, she iz.

What a tragedy. At least she’s replacing one of the worse, so the net loss is minimal.

I agree.
Like Rush Limbaugh says she will be confirmed with 80 votes but we can’t give up the fight.
