WASHINGTON: The White House sought on Friday to quell a controversy over US supreme court nominee Sonia Sotomayor's 2001 comment indicating Hispanic women may decide cases better than white men, saying she used a poor choice of words.
In an NBC interview, President Barack Obama said he was sure Sotomayor "would have restated" her comment. "If you look in the entire sweep of the essay that she wrote, what's clear is that she was simply saying that her life experiences will give her information about the struggles and hardships that people are going through that will make her a good judge," Obama said.

They both tense cry babies.
Judge Sonia Sotomayor: "Court is Where Policy is Made"
Link to YouTube video of her making the comment:
Judges, especially SCOTUS Justices, cannot “choose” a wrong word. It becomes law. Her remarks are improper.
She isn’t qualified.
"I'm Latina and you're not! The court rules against Whitey! Tee-hee!"
Ugliest SCOTUS in a dress since David Souter.
We can, but we diminish ourselves by saying it.
Sonia Sotomayor does her Louis Armstrong impersonation
She is ugly inside and out. A monster with a polluted soul.
100% lie from the Liar in Chief.
I agree with you on the inside and you can have at either if you want, but I think to insult the outside is diminishing of FR and your argument.
No, saying that “global warming is proven science” is a poor choice of words (aside from being a flat out lie).
Her words - “wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life” are not a poor choice of words, but a deeply held conviction.
She ASSUMES - and PRESUME that there are wise Latina women, and she is one of the.
She then denigrates all white males by not considering the possiblity that some of them may be wise.
Finally, she dismisses the possibility that anyone but her have had such a tough life.
Anytime she wants to put her “tough life” up against mine, bring it on. Not bragging or complaining about my lot, just saying that there are plenty of people who live through tough times.
Mayday. Mayday. We’re going down.
Poor choice of words? Perhaps.
True reflection of the nominee’s mindset? Absolutely.
Sotomayor is not suited for the Federal bench at ANY level. The pubbies need to fight this nomination with all the vigor the DhimmiRats have used for the past eight years.
It’s time to take back the country.
I don't have an argument.
She is ugly.
She is a Hate filled, resentful woman, who uses the power she has been given to punish those she hates and make herself feel more important. It WILL catch up with her
What other words could have she said that would have altered the meaning?
You say what you mean.
She said precisely what she meant.
What the White House is doing, of course, is attempting spin after the after the fact.
Something about barn doors and horses comes to mind.
I agree, let the left make the insults regarding people’s looks, that’s just my two cents though.
I’m noticing that she went to BOTH colleges on a scholarship. When someone said “token”...she found a lawyer!! Just thinking.....Rediong a little bit on wiki...not best source sometimes
Wrong again, obamessiah, you fool.
“her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life”
You can stand in the echo chamber looking all important in your expensive empty suit, restating the first part in that “authoritative” voice act, but the second part does NOT go away. It IS what she believes.
“She isn’t qualified”
Neither is Barry, but he’s still our president.
I think we are looking at 70-30 vote now. The other day I was predicting 88-12...I believe that by summer it might be 60-40 and not broken down by party...
What is funny is that this is the “easy” nomination. The President picked her because he thought everyone would accept her as in his mind she is not a big time liberal. I can only imagine what he will pick next time around.
I think it's the next nomination (maybe two) that will be the tide turner...and not for the greater good...Community Service at it's best!!
Laws are not based on her life experiences, you do not decide guilt or innocence because of someones hardships and struggles.
They are based on the law. Her experiences as a Judge should have taught her this, but I guess it didnt.
And she's had 8 years to do it.
Wouldn’t bother me if Sessions declared this along with any similar nominations DOA in committee.
I just know Orrin Hatch is going to roll over just like he did for Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
This is what happens when you turn over power to a bunch of hood rats, gays & females.
Doesn’t this make the White House an accessory to racism?
There seems to be a strong separation between Church and State, but not Racism and State...
The only way we can stop this is to end whitey guilt. I am making sure that my daughter will feel no whitey guilt. I hope all of you do the same.
yep,,poor choice of words would be appropriae if she called white people honkies or something.
THis is a mindset not a word choice problem.
“What other words could have she said that would have altered the meaning?
You say what you mean.”
You forget that under the Messiah’s rule you are not supposed to believe your lying ears and eyes.
Can we just say it?
Ugliest SCOTUS in a dress since David Souter.
“Ugly”? Have you seen Ginsburg??? OY!!!
They way these people are moving, in very little time the damage will be so great there won't be much left to fix.
No wonder we have so many confused people running around this country. Truth doesn't matter to many, nor is it considered honorable.
If she had honor she would withdraw her nomination.
The difference being, when a Conservative uses a poor choice of words, they are run out of town on a rail! Can you say Trent Lott!
The “Special Kind” we have in the White House is not showing me much.
Racist nazi b!tch!!!
Obama said he was sure Sotomayor “would have restated” her comment. But did not.
Poor choice of nominee? ABSOLUTELY!
Life experiences don’t make you a good judge. What makes you a good judge, first and foremost, is a knowledge and appreciation of the US Constitution.
This is what happens when you don’t use a teleprompter. You actually say what you are thinking.
She meant EXACTLY what she said. What dunces they must believe us to be to try and take the fat off the pig.
