NOW Identifies Murder of Dr. George Tiller As Domestic Terrorism, Calls for Action from Justice Department and Homeland Security Statement of NOW President Kim Gandy
June 1, 2009
Women across the country have lost a champion today. The cold-blooded murder of Dr. George Tiller this morning in church is a stark reminder that women's bodies are still a battleground, and health care professionals are on the frontlines.
This kind man and skilled doctor braved blockades, harassment, assault, and countless threats, including an attempted murder in 1993 when he was shot in both arms. He knew his life was in constant jeopardy, and that he would likely die at the hands of an anti-abortion terrorist -- yet he continued to protect his patients and provide safe and legal abortions to women in often-desperate circumstances. Those who are behind this murder may believe that the killing of George Tiller will mean that these women will have nowhere else to turn, but they are wrong. On the contrary, I believe their depraved acts will inspire another doctor to take up the torch, and another, and another.
Dr. Tiller's slaying is the most recent in a string of murders in the service of the anti-abortion cause, and hundreds of people have been injured or threatened because they provide legal abortion services. Bringing the killers to justice is not enough - the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security must root out and prosecute as domestic terrorists and violent racketeers the criminal enterprise that has organized and funded criminal acts for decades. We call on the new attorney general Eric Holder and head of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano to treat these murders in the same way they would treat politically-motivated domestic terrorism of any other kind and put the full resources of their two departments behind that effort.
Tomorrow will be a Day of Mourning for Dr. Tiller as well as a National Day of Commitment for all who believe abortion must remain both safe and legal -- who believe women have the right and indeed the moral obligation to make their own childbearing decisions. We urge individuals to wear white armbands all day tomorrow, Monday, June 1, in memory of Dr. Tiller and as a visible expression of determination to redouble our commitment to protecting the right to safe and legal birth control and abortion.

This is just another case of terrorist on terrorist on crime.
Shaping up to be so predictable, it has to be a rerun.
This release is full of generalities...which says to me they don’t have any more details about the shooter than we have.
This arrived conveniently for the gun control agenda.
It just about makes me cry to see that murdering scumbag who does not deserve the title Dr., being praised like he is some kind of hero.
Are those in support of the culture of life really looking at being shipped of to some detention camp somewhere for "torture" in some mad leftist retribution for "the policies of Bush."
Man, that's wild enough to be a chapter in someone's best-seller.
Here comes the broad brush smear, right on time.
Women have lost a champion? Umm, I’m a woman and Tiller was no champion of mine...or my daughter...whom he didn’t get the chance to get his filthy murdering hands on.
It's time we get our heads around the fact that the lunatics are running the asylum, and they're not very nice people, either. I won't call them "baby killers" -- but they are in willfull denial of reality, which makes them particularly dangerous.
Little early aint it...maybe the cheeseball was molesting someone’s son...and they popped him for it.
Anyway, too early to say what this is past murder.
Ya think the gun grabbers are gonna use the killing of a baby murderer by some crazy guy as a pretext to take away our guns?
If so, we are n trouble.
Maybe Fred Phelps and his wacko anti-gay church in Topeka will show up at his funeral, too.
A “late term abortion” doctor is, in fact, a “baby killer”.
Yep, they don’t have a suspect yet.
I’m very sad somebody was killed, of course. We don’t know a motive without the suspect and piecing it together. Wouldn’t it be a kick in the butt to N.O.W. if it turned out that this murder had nothing to do with his abortion activities? They are just assuming that it is in retaliation for abortion.
We’ll see when they arrest somebody, then we’ll know. I think the release from N.O.W. is very premature.
It will definitely be a black mark if he's a CCW holder. The big thing advancing CCW was the record of how few CCW holders ever ise their guns to commit a crime.

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
NOW is a champion of women alright. Butched-out, bull-dyked, shrill lesbian liberals who despise men, women who believe it’s okay to stay at home with children and the United States of America. When it’s Sarah Palin or Carrie Prejean being attacked this joke of an organization stands idly by and pretends they don’t exist.
Was do these pro-abortions group always add “rare” if its no big deal to abort a baby.
N.O.W. is very selective in their outrage. N.O.W. was leading the charge against Clarence Thomas because of the accusations of sex harrassment against him. Yet that same organization had nothing to say about sex harrassment charges against Bill Clinton. The silence was deafening, and seeing such lack of intellectual honesty, it’s hard to take N.O.W. seriously with their pronouncements.
I’m hoping the killer was just an Anti Abortion guy doing what he thought was right.
And so it begins....
I have never seen prettier words to defend such an atrocious act, evil sure has a way with words.
I am afraid they are correct in that this appears to be a case of domestic terrorism.
But, but, but, what if it was a RAT that did the deed, oh gosh, which one to mourn the most.
Who gives a f**k what these clam bumpers have to say?
Live by the sword, die by the sword
more evidence that it was a set up by one of Bambi’s goons
These women are truly sick! They worry about the "cold-blooded murder" of Tiller but not the cold-blooded murder of millions of children.
Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)
The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.
Abortion Statistics - Decision to Have an Abortion (U.S.)
· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing
· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby
· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child
· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy)
· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career
· 7.9% of women want no (more) children
· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health
2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health
So how many womens lives have been saved by abortion?
Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be due to a risk to maternal health. A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But lets say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.
Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.
Set-up or not, these satanic ghouls are secretly rubbing their hands and cackling with glee.
It’s taylor made for the forces of evil.
next comes the domestic terrorism camps
You gotta know who you’re dealing with.
NOW has millions of murders to their credit, and they certainly have terrorized the helpless populations of uncounted numbers of wombs, so I can see why they would want to get a terrorist organization persecution bandwagon rolling in the other direction.
Already they are calling for pogroms when the killer and his motives have yet to be made public. I would say they are going off half-cocked, but that would no doubt be shrieked at as a sexist statement.
But, they may as well get the bandwagon rolling early. There are going to be plenty of politicians jumping on it before tomorrow morning waving all their pet causes from more gun control to more hate-crimes legislation!
“This kind man”
This quote also. Good Lord, these people are delusional. No wonder they’re always so angry
Gun Control and Pro-Abortion activists rejoice..../sarcasm off
There’s no name yet, nor is there a motive. NOW had better watch it...may be one of their radicals.
Where is the Westboro Baptist Church on this?
I'm sad about it too - although I'm much less sad about it than I would be if virtually *any* other human being was killed.
I'm not expecting to lose any sleep over it tonight.
Murder is murder, but I’ll reserve my tears and prayers for the victims of the “victim”.
Who will be a champion for the unborn babies?
Bring it on .
Westboro Baptist Church is a satirical group, not a church group.
Partial birth abortions are sick and twisted. Anyone who has one and condones them is an animal.
I would consider partial term abortions a terrorist act against the fetus.
But many women have gone off the deep end on the “Its my body and my right!”
Yea, why not argue that you get to kill your child until he or she turns 18?
