The London newsies of Fleet Street have no respect -- for very much at all, including the Queen, PM Gordon Brown or -- shock! -- not even for His Utterliness Barack Hussein Obama, He Who Must Not Be Laughed At. This lèse majesté will no doubt upset the ranks of the American media, which has transformed the fine art of butt-kissing into a veritable mob frenzy at any appearance of the One.
The White House press corps is now completely supine, utterly shameless in its groveling cowardice. Stalin himself couldn't have wished for a more slobbering press corps. Rather than mailing them nice little Lipton tea bags, millions of sane Americans might consider sending air sickness bags to our Reigning Media.
But not, thank haven, across the broad Atlantic. There free speech and even laughter are still alive, among the well-lubricated scribblers of Fleet Street. The journos of Britain show little respect for American Presidents regardless of race, creed or color. They laugh hysterically at all of them. Not that it takes much imagination.
The Telegraph has done the awesome, and called Michelle's wardrobe "frumpy."
Gerald Warner pitches in by announcing "Barack Obama: all the bad guys are giving President Pantywaist the finger" which says it all, really.
And "Barack Obama and the CIA: why does President Pantywaist hate America so badly?"
And how about "Barack Obama preaches the gospel of abortion at Notre Shame"

Not so. John Kass of the Chicago Tribune reported on that extensively. Generally the Chicago Tribune has been straight-up on all aspects of Chicago corruption, including Obama.

I believe so. And at one time there was a concerted effort to get some of the journalists there fired.

Definitely. It is a hunting destination, in fact. Lots of Americans come here to hunt each year. Deer, mountain goats and Elk mostly -- although you can also hunt wild boar (that's usually done with dogs and a knife, with a firearm along for safety). There are some amazing stags out in the bush.

Yes, with a licence, and Yes with a special endorsement on your license. Pistols aren't used for hunting here.

Not especially. It would be more like areas set aside for No Hunting. But if you go with a proper guide he will take you into wilderness areas where hunting game are plentiful and there's not another soul in sight.

It's not that difficult in New Zealand -- I don't know about Australia or Canada. It was easy enough in Canada when I left 15 years ago, but I understand it has tightened up considerably since then.
New Zealand has one of the highest per-capita ownership rates of firearms in the world. I believe it is right up there with the US.

As for names,
I worked for Texas Instruments when I got out of college.
We were making up a team for their softball league. But we needed a name within ten minutes or we’d be left out.
Of 12 people on the team everyone came up with lame names and I finally said how about the Mexicali Blues.
No one vetoed it so that was it.
We were terrible and got beat every time out and finally someone asked about the name.
The next game we were having a bar-b-que and I told them I’d reveal where the name came from.
Greatful dead song about a guy from Bakersfield Cal. who goes to Mexicali and gets a bottle of Tequila and a young hooker and goes and gets a case of the “Mexicali Bluse”.
All these stoogie engineers came to the understanding that our team was named after a case of the clap.

New Zealand regulations don’t look much like the US. It doesn’t say a thing about self-defense, and it is not legal to keep a loaded weapon in your home. I didn’t see anything at that link about carrying a weapon in cars or other places. The New Zealand regulations require:
“Firearms must be stored in the manner set out in the Arms Regulations. All licence holders must install security at their home, regardless of whether or not they actually posess any firearms.
Security requirements are particularly strict for dealers and for licence holders who possess pistols, restricted weapons or military style semi-automatics (MSSAs).
* You must never put a firearm where a child could reach it
* You must store firearms and ammunition separate or disable the firearms, or both
* You must keep your firearms unloaded and locked away in a cupboard or storeroom
If these requirements are not observed, your licence may be revoked.”
That is not comparable with current US regulations in many states, where loaded weapons in your own home for self-defense is legal, and supported by the majority of state constitutions.

No, they certainly don’t. We don’t have a Second Amendment or anything similar.

That’s true. Self-defense is not a valid reason to own a firearm in New Zealand. We do have the right to use “reasonable force” in defending ourselves, according the the “Crimes Act 1961”, but the courts usually interpret that to mean “minimum force” ie the minimum amount of force necessary to control the situation.

Else I’m mistaken, John Kass was assigned to Mike Royko’s beat after Royko’s death. I am an avid fan of John Kass: he writes about Chicago’s underbelly with authority, following worthily in Mike Royko’s footsteps.
