I think I’m in the minority here. I don’t hear where he says he’s in favor of gay marriage.

He says that historically the states have handled marriage, and that each state should define marriage. He said he opposes legislation at the federal level on this issue. He said that everyone should be able to enter into any relationship they want, but he didn’t say that such relationships have to have legal status, or the same legal status as traditional married couples.

I guess we can hear what we want to hear, but I sure don’t see where somebody gets a headline “Dick Cheney Supports Gay Marriage” from these comments. At most, he’s agreeable to any state having gay marriage but doesn’t want a federal law for gay marriage.

I think Dick Cheney has what is called “Street cred” with the right. That and he put in a states’ rights qualifier.

I could care less...he is a man we look to for financial stability and leadership in the world, and for American security.......he's not our social conservative......he doesn't have to be....

I am not a one issue voter...I can't imagine two men saying their "married" but what it all boils down to is domestic partnership rights....so it is okay with me that the govt and companies offer medical benefits ONLY to those that work, with the option of buy insurance for the family,etc....that way, the gays have nothing to complain about....

but if this marriage thing becomes national, I want them paying taxes like we real married people do....thru the nose!
