I think I’m in the minority here. I don’t hear where he says he’s in favor of gay marriage.
He says that historically the states have handled marriage, and that each state should define marriage. He said he opposes legislation at the federal level on this issue. He said that everyone should be able to enter into any relationship they want, but he didn’t say that such relationships have to have legal status, or the same legal status as traditional married couples.
I guess we can hear what we want to hear, but I sure don’t see where somebody gets a headline “Dick Cheney Supports Gay Marriage” from these comments. At most, he’s agreeable to any state having gay marriage but doesn’t want a federal law for gay marriage.
thanks for saving me the trouble of having to watch it.
You are correct.
Cheney did not endorse legalizing same-sex marriage.
I guess you didn’t actually watch him. He said he supported his gay daughter her meaningful relationship with her gay friend. What the hell more do you need for proof.
I’ll have to agree with that. I’ve never heard Cheny say he personally is in favor of gay marriage either.
Now on to another issue made by this thread; why is an unfounded “accusation” spewed from some little green snotball psycho posted as “news”?
I do wish it would come across that way more.
Cheney said people should have the “freedom” to enter into any kind of agreement they wish but would leave it to the states to ultimately decide how they handle it.
I don’t know how you can say Cheney doesn’t support gay marriage, all he said was he didn’t support a federal solution. It was right there bold as can be on the video.
