BERKELEY SPRINGS - Morgan County Sheriff Vince Shambaugh said Monday that a local man has been arrested and charged with making threats against President Barack Obama.

While the details of Meadows' alleged actions have not been made public, Shambaugh said that his prior military background may have played somewhat of a role.

When his name was run through the system, Meadows was not found to have any previous history with law enforcement, Shambaugh said.

"We took extra precautions because he is a veteran and has had weapons training, so we felt it was better to err on the side of caution,"

Here we go. It's illegal to make threats against the president, but now it's worse if you're a veteran,

Dealing with the federal authorities is different at some levels, Shambaugh said. "For example, it's just now that we've been able to release the information about this incident or talk about it," he said Monday.

Why am I not surprised?

We have to keep an eye on those potential terrorists - Christians, prior military, and NRA members.

I doubt that it was a real threat; serious people would just get the job done if they wanted to. Personally, as evil as obama is, I want that thug to finish out his first (and I pray only) term. The voters who chose this socialist need to see first hand just how much destruction his beliefs cause, or we'll get another socialist in 4-8 years. Those who support freedom need to discredit socialism, not just remove one national socialist.

I’d be curious to know what his threat actually was...

There is no freedom to make threats against the President. This guy would have been fine with his training and weapons alone, no one would have bothered him.

It just means that other methods will have to be looked into for its restoration, that’s all.

Unbelievable. Obama’s a tyrant and the country is full of bumbkins like this moron sheriff who will follow orders against citizens no questions asked. I never thought I’d live to see the day.

Hopefully not over, just taking a respite before being returned to its rightful place.

Exactly. And, heck, I recall hearing ON TV Alec Baldwin suggesting people should rise up and murder Hyde AND HIS FAMILY. As far as I know, no one batted an eye.

This is scary!

Now if a veteran says “I hate that SoB Barry Soetoro; I wish he were dead!” he'll have a SWAT team coming to his house! Yikes! Shades of the Third Reich!

Whatever, I’d like to hear what they thought was a threat.

“We took extra precautions because he is a veteran and has had weapons training”

Good thing DHS withdrew that memo

So far nothing in the article indicates direct threats against the President. It says he was disgruntled with the VA.

Failure to treat his PTSD properly?

Well, exactly as predicted. One abortion clinic killer, one alleged veteran terrorist (fast asleep in bed), and what’s next? An angry Baptist mob? The Catholic bishops who said that Obama should not have been invited to Notre Dame?

Meantime, two New Black Panthers are let off from well-documented charges of voter intimidation by Attorney General Eric Holder(perhaps a member of the Black Panthers himself?) and the shooting of two young men at a recruitment center by a Black Muslim terrorist with foreign training is ignored.

Technically you’re right, of course. But in reality, threats were made against W all the time. Law enforcement is an arbitrary thing and I suppose threats can be whatever the enforcer wants them to be.
This serves the greater purpose of “proving” Napolitano right - former military men (and women, I guess) are a threat - as are we here on FR perhaps.
Whatever the facts are in this case, we don’t live in the U.S. we knew and loved before.
