URGENT: OBAMA TO PROPOSE DIVIDING JERUSALEM :: Making The Holy City The Capital Of Palestine

Posted on 06/02/2009 4:36:20 PM PDT by Iraqs Inconvenient Truth.

(Washington, D.C., May 20, 2009) — Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has just finished his visit to Washington. Full analysis on my weblog, including a link to the YouTube clip of me on Glenn Beck’s show with a former CIA analyst who says he wouldn’t care if Israel ceased to exist.

MUST WATCH:
Joel On The Glen Beck Show

That said, there’s more troubling news this morning. I’m horrified by credible reports that in his June 4th speech in Cairo, President Obama will say it is time to divide Jerusalem and make the holy city the capital of a Palestinian state.

No, Mr. President, it is not

Jerusalem is and should be the eternal, undivided capital of the Jewish people and the Jewish state. Dividing Jerusalem will not make peace. Rather, it would send a message to every Radical Islamic jihadist around the world that Israel is weak, that the Jews won’t even defend the sovereignty of their own capital, that there is “blood in the water,” and that it is time to strike Israel and wipe her off the map. Dividing Jerusalem would trigger an apocalyptic war in the Middle East the likes of which the region has never seen.

I am committed to doing everything I possibly can to educate people — and particularly U.S. and Canadian evangelical Christians — to the threats facing Israel and the West due to Radical Islam, and to the biblical responsibility we have to show unconditional love and unwavering support to Israel and the Jewish people. We’ll use radio, TV, the internet, emails and other media to get the word out. But we can’t do it alone. We want and need your help.

One idea: let’s build an alliance of one million true friends of Israel — people who love Israel, are committed to blessing her in real and practical ways, are absolutely opposed to dividing Jerusalem, and will pray faithfully for the peace of Jerusalem and the protection of all the people of the epicenter.

Currently, we have 100,000 subscribers to our Flash Traffic email updates who are committed to this cause. If each of us recruited just 10 new friends to sign up for Flash Traffic and be part of this alliance, we would be able to communicate new information, new projects, and new prayer requests to them instantly. We would be able to mobilize people for pro-Israel events. We would be able to mobilize people to write to President Obama and their Congressional leaders to stand with Israel, not against her. We would be able to work together to stockpile food, clothing, medical supplies and other aid in Israel ahead of the next war. And we would be able to encourage one another with the knowledge that we are not alone in this important fight.

Will you join us?

COME TO ISRAEL AND ATTEND THE “JERUSALEM PRAYER SUMMIT”

Israel has never needed the unconditional love and unwavering support of evangelical Christians more than she does today. Yes, Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas are making threats. But the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is a great and mighty God. He is calling us to bless Israel and show her our love in a real and practical way.

That’s why we are moving forward with The Joshua Fund’s next “Prayer & Vision Trip,” and we would love for you to join us. It will be held November 5-17, 2009, and culminate in our first-ever “Jerusalem Prayer Summit.”

And now, by God’s grace, we have been able to reduce the price by $600 per couple.

If you have never been to the Holy Land, it is hard to describe what a profound spiritual effect such a journey can have on you and your family. You may have heard others say God’s Word seemed to “come alive” in a new way when they walked where Jesus walked, from the shores of Galilee to the Mount of Olives and into the streets of Jerusalem. Well, it’s true, and I believe our 2009 Israel trip will allow you to experience this for yourself and intensify your desire to walk closely with Jesus Christ.

If you have been to Israel before, this trip will be a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of how powerfully the Lord is moving there. I will teach at key locations and answer your questions about the future of the epicenter. You will have the opportunity to meet with and pray for local pastors and ministry leaders. We are arranging for you to spend time engaged in a practical Joshua Fund ministry project to bless the poor and needy. What’s more, you will participate in a two-day conference to pray for the peace of Jerusalem at this critical hour.

We can take up to 300 people, and to make your experience as personal and special as possible, you will be assigned to one of seven buses of about 45 people. Each bus will be hosted by a Joshua Fund staff or board member or couple, or one of our close allies. You will ride that bus with your host every day, and in the process you’ll get to know the people on your bus, study the Bible with them, pray with and for them, discover Israel together with them, ask questions with them, and thus form a small community. Lord willing, I will rotate through the buses to get to know you and answer your questions. Each bus will also have a professional, licensed Israeli tour guide who know every detail of the country inside and out.

Please click the link below, learn more, pray about it, and then — if the Lord gives you the green light — please sign up and come with us, while there is still space.

As always, we will do our best to keep you up-to-date on the kinds of projects we are doing, and brief you on how those projects are proceeding. We will also let you know about the kinds of projects we are developing for the future. In no way do we want to pressure anyone to give financially. We fully believe the Lord will provide for the needs of the people we seek to serve. But if you or others wish to help, we welcome your support, and all financial gifts are tax-deductible.

Thanks so much and may the Lord richly bless you and your family as you bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus — especially at critical moment in history of the epicenter.

Obama on Jerusalem, Properly Phrased
By Rick Richman

In its lead editorial yesterday (”Obama in Jerusalem”), The New York Sun noted that Barack Obama’s continuing explanations of his AIPAC speech, in which he said Jerusalem “must remain undivided,” raise more questions than they answer. Obama added yet another explanation yesterday in Sderot.

To decode his current position, it is useful to review in one place the various statements he has made on this issue. So here is a compilation of them, followed by a JCI revision of his AIPAC speech to correct the poor phrasing that marred it:

1. Position Paper on Israel issued during his 2000 congressional campaign:

“Jerusalem should remain united and should be recognized as Israel’s capital.”

2. January 2008 Response to the American Jewish Committee Election Questionaire — “How do you see the likely final status of Jerusalem?”:

“Jerusalem will remain Israel’s capital, and no one should want or expect it to be re-divided.”

3. June 4, 2008 AIPAC speech:

“Let me be clear. . . . Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.”

4. July 12, 2008 Interview with Fareed Zakaria:

ZAKARIA: One area where you’re outside the international consensus — and certainly, perhaps, some others — is the statement you made in a recent speech supporting Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel.

Now, why not support the Clinton plan, which envisions a divided Jerusalem, the Arab half being the capital of a Palestinian state, the Jewish half being the capital of the Jewish state?

OBAMA: You know, the truth is that this was an example where we had some poor phrasing in the speech. . . . The point we were simply making was, is that we don’t want barbed wire running through Jerusalem, similar to the way it was prior to the ‘67 war, that it is possible for us to create a Jerusalem that is cohesive and coherent.

I was not trying to predetermine what are essentially final status issues. I think the Clinton formulation provides a starting point for discussions between the parties.

5. July 22 Interview with Katie Couric:

COURIC: . . . You said not too long ago that Jerusalem should remain undivided. And then you backtracked on that statement. Does that play into the argument that some believe that someone more experienced would not have made that kind of mistake?

OBAMA: Well...if you look at what happened, there was no shift in policy or backtracking in policy. We just had phrased it poorly in the speech. That has happened and will happen to every politician. You’re not always gonna hit your mark in terms of how you phrase your policies. But my policy hasn’t changed, and it’s been very consistent. It’s the same policy that Bill Clinton has put forward, and that says that Jerusalem will be the capital of Israel, that we shouldn’t divide it by barbed wire, but that, ultimately that is ... a final status issue that has to be resolved between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

6. July 23 Sderot Press Conference:

QUESTION: Senator Obama, you said at [the] AIPAC convention that undivided Jerusalem continues to be the capital city of Israel - and then you change it, and clarified later on, and people in Israel wonder how we can be sure of your other statements, that you are going to be committed to the security of the state of Israel, and you are not going to change it when you’re the President of the United States.

OBAMA: First of all, I didn’t change my statement. I continue to say that Jerusalem will be the capital of Israel. And I have said that before and I will say it again. And I also have said that it is important that we don’t simply slice the city in half, but I’ve also said that that’s a final status issue. That’s an issue that has to be dealt with with the parties involved, the Palestinians and the Israelis, and it is not the job of the United States to dictate the form in which that will take, but rather to support the efforts that are being made right now to resolve these very difficult issues that have a long history. . . .

The “properly phrased” clarification of position comes after the cut.

Does anyone see the biblical proportions to this? I wonder if the media will report this? It will leak, if accurate but not from the media that surround Obama.

are y’all STILL insistent, in your heart of hearts, that these are NOT the END TIMES????

Eschatology (future events) IMO should be an outgrowth of our beliefs re discipleship and evangelism (present events). IMO it should not be the other way around. I was persuaded, years ago, to change my eschatological view from Premillennial to Postmillennial because I couldn't justify how Christians could be "victorious" today and simultaneously rushing towards a Great Tribulation tomorrow. Ultimately, for me the issue came down to pretty much just one question: which is the most powerful event in history - Adam's Fall, or Christ's Redemption? I came to believe it's the latter - and because of it, I switched my eschatology. IMO Dispensationalists believe the former (Adam's Fall) is the more powerful of the two.

Those of us holding the POV of Postmillennialism and the Reformation would say that the blood of Christ is capable of redeeming everything affected by the Fall. Post-redemption, we believe that the Bible gives us guidelines in how to behave, as redeemed individuals, in every area of life. We expect that redemption progressively flows outward from the repentant/obedient soul, the impact compounded by the number of repentant/obedient souls, to ultimately effect a positive change in culture and politics and art and everything produced by man. So long as Christians are obedient, they will positively impact the culture around them, and the long-term effect will be a statistically measurable redemption/restoration of their world, prior to the physical, literal return of Christ.

The LORD said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
-- Psalm 110:1
Now most Americans (but not all) approach the issue from the POV of Scofield-flavored Dispensational Premillennialism, and they would say "You don't polish the brass on a sinking ship!", as did evangelist Dwight L. Moody in the 19th century. The culture will not (cannot) be redeemed by anything - not even by a wholesale repentance and conversion of the population - nothing short of the physical return of Christ will have any lasting impact on it, and thus the most a redeemed man can hope for is a ticket out of here. Such thinking would have us believe that the Great Commission commands us to "go ye therefore and make converts of all nations". Now if your eschatology teaches that Christians shouldn't "polish the brass on a sinking ship", you will probably discount or avoid altogether other ship-related skills as hull & sail repair, mastering sea-sickness, and simple navigation. What good is it to ask people to repent and convert, and not prepare them for how to live afterward? The Great Commission commands us to make disciples, not converts. Disciples do more than learn how to make more converts. A man cannot repent of his old behavior, unless he has a new set of behaviors to substitute for them! And can those new behaviors be expected to "do" anything in his life? In his children's lives? In the culture around him?

If we extrapolate Dispensationalism backwards, we come to the conclusion that living one's life for Christ in any era doesn't add up to jack squat statistically or sociologically, whereas living one's life for Satan has a statistically measurable, progressively successful effect on society in every era. Even if the church manages to actually achieve a net growth in the number of believers, Dispensational Premillennialism tells us that those believers won't accomplish jack in the way of impacting, let alone redeeming, the culture around them. Their lives won't be transformed or have any effect in any statistically meaningful way, long-term. Christians will be losers in every area of culture and history. There's no way for the world to move towards a Great Tribulation unless this is true (classic Premillennialism actually has a way around this, but Dispensationalism IMO does not). The Gospel offers no hope for man or his world, beyond a supernatural "get out of jail free!" card.

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men."
-- Matthew 5:13

If the MSM turns on him, it will be admitting that they backed the wrong horse for the election. They have too much invested to back away now. Maybe later with some distance from the election and if he reaches into their wallets too much and goes after them. But we’ve not there yet. Not even close.

Respectfully, if you make a declarative statement such as yours,

Revelations tells us Jesus will return for HIS CHURCH before the Antichrist takes control.

you should be prepared to explain said statement. No argument - I'd simply like to know where in Revelation it says that Jesus will return for His church before the antichrist takes control. Can you give me specifics, please?

I’m sorry, but as I read through the recent posts on this thread, I’m addressing one of yours again.

Where does the text tell us that the AC will be part Jewish on the mother’s side, and where does it say he will be invited to enter the temple?

Please, if you’re going to make such statements, provide references. I have found the above nowhere in scripture and I would LOVE to know where it says that. Could you please tell me? If I’m missing such things, I want to know about them. Thanks.

(Of course, I no longer see him as European either, but that’s another discussion.)

Ummm, I didn’t say that. Besides, there is no such thing a “part Jewish”. If your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish. (Judaism comes down from the mother’s side.)

How would you define classic premil as it contrasts dispensationalism? I’ve read a little but not much, but have wholly rejected dispensationalism based on what I find in scripture. I’d love to hear your perspective.

With regard to postmillennialism vs pre, my response to Christians being “culturally and historically successful” on this earth is that I don’t see where scripture - except for descriptions of the end of things - says that God’s people are. We are overcomers, certainly, but not in a temporal sense. Spiritually, rather, we are victorious - and reflect the victory of Christ - when we accept Him and when we lead others to Him - IN SPITE of opposition, in the face of persecution and death. It is BECAUSE the world is as it is that we are victorious because we endure through it. Our reward is in heaven, we store up treasures in heaven, NOT temporally on this earth.

In fact, history has proven that the church grows BEST when persecution is fiercest, and the opposite is true - the church grows the LEAST when Christians are free. Look at Europe, where Christianity is dying, and the US, where we are not far behind. Conversely, look at China for example, where it is estimated that 10,000 new believers are added each day.

Jesus didn’t say convert everyone to the ends of the earth, He said preach the gospel to the ends of the earth - people still have a choice, and I believe that scripture indicates that while the greatest harvest is yet to come (again, THROUGH the worst persecution the world has ever known), plenty of folks continue on in their sin despite the world falling apart all around them. Such is humanity, such is prophecy.

Anyway, that’s how I see it. But we will agree on one thing - dispensationalism is a false view of prophetic scripture.

Thanks. A clearer presentation than I’ve seen hereon.

1. NO, I disagree. CHRIST’S REDEMPTION (DEATH & RESURRECTION) IS THE FULCRUM OF ALL HISTORY AND ALL CREATION.

2. NO, I disagree. Christians living for Christ ought to make disciples AND those disciples WILL have an eternal impact on those around them, their culture etc. God records the eternal impact. God carries the eternal impact forward through whatever—including death and END TIMES etc.

3. I don’t recall anyone in all my Dispy history teaching anything OTHER THAN living for God, making disciples of Christ and impacting others and the culture around us etc. etc. and that ONLY WHAT’S DONE FOR CHRIST WILL LAST ETERNALLY.

4. CHRISTIANS are never losers in any lasting sense—including those dying in the gulags of Russia etc. This may be boot camp but what we do here has super lasting impact on us and on others and on Creation.

5. All my better pastors have earnestly endeavored to mature folks in CHRISTIAN LIVING toward impacting others and the culture around them. It has been noted that when church attendance goes up; drunkenness and crime go down in the same area. I think the stuff you posted to the contrary is straw-dog nonsense.

6. OF COURSE the Blood of Christ is capable of redeeming all the fall trashed. And—HE WILL DO SO ACCORDING TO THE PLAN LAID OUT IN SCRIPTURE.

7. “the long-term effect will be a statistically measurable redemption/restoration of their world, prior to the physical, literal return of Christ.” That doesn’t seem to be going according to the plan your system espouses. And, it’s going to get worse right through Armageddon. How do you explain it going the opposite of your script???

I actually find it difficult to believe Obama would do this in a speech to the Muslim world.

He would be crazy to openly call for Jerusalem to be the capital of a Palestinian state.

Not that he would not do it, he just would do it off the record and try to force Israel hand by blackmail

Agreed. I'm thinking they leaked this to gauge the world's reaction. But I'm sure he has no intent of making such an announcement in Cairo.

And, the further one steps back from liberalism to get a better look, the uglier the whole picture becomes. If you keep going, you finally see a picture that astonishes, infuriates, and saddens, all at the same time.

I've been tracking these folks since the 1960s and I can assure you that the picture is beyond ugly. Pol Pot was no accident. It makes me sick that the Soviet Union (the folks who intentionally set out to rot us from within by supporting the 1930s radicals who trained Bill Ayers, et al) have given up and gone Reagan while the dumb ol' US of A is blundering into the same socialistt crap that they left behind. Putin is laughing his *ss off as the USSR time bombs go off and Al Gore, Clinton (check out where HE was in the 1960s) and the most grotesque of all... the mystery of the man called Obama promote the same stuff that, for 70 years, destroyed Russia and really screwed up China. They are emerging as free societies and free economies while we sink into the socialist abyss. Wait until the state police start rounding us up! maybe Russian or Chinese freedom lovers will come to our defense!

As for the book.... go for it!
