Al-Goracle please pick up the ice encrusted courtesy phone. This is farther south than the freeze warnings last night.

Freezing rain on and off.

In LA? I doubt it. Freezing rain means that it turns to ice on the roads.

Nothing like a freeze warning 2 weeks before Summer officially arrives. We had 7 inches of snow in Chubbuck, Idaho (near Pocatello) on June 6, 2008. This year, we're having thunderstorms every day. Our normal "wet" month is May. That has been pushed into June this year. There was a severe thunderstorm warning this evening with possibility of a tornado. That's fairly unusual in this area.

I just hate all this Global whinning (or is that warming?). Tonight in the Sacramento CA area we had a significant thunderstorm move through - another sign of global whinning.

True. I've seen my sister in Las Vegas wear a parka when it dips to 65 degrees in the late Spring.

From http://icecap.us/images/uploads/solarcyclestory.pdf:
“The sun undergoes cyclical changes that appear to correlate with temperatures. The current cycle 23 appears to be the longest in at least a century and may project to quieter subsequent cycles and cooling temperatures ahead.”

From http://www.warwickhughes.com/agri/Solar_Arch_NY_Mar2_08.pdf:
“The Holocene, the period we are in now, is tracking along with three of the four previous interglacials. Of those three, if the Holocene ends up being like the Eemian, then we may have up to 3,000 years of Little Ice Age-like conditions before we plunge into the next glacial period. If not, then the plunge could start any time now.”
