"Goodbye old man...my master."

"What do you hear?"

"I hear the grasshopper".

RIP, Kwai Chang.

I used to hang out at a Sunset strip place where David’s dad held court. I could spend hours nursing a drink and listening to him tell show biz stories. He had a difficult final decade, David may have inherited some of that.

Could be that he discovered he had something “terminal” and didn’t want to deal with it. Purely supposition on my part, however.

I don’t think that I have ever seen an actor adopt the persona of one of his /her characters and become that role the rest of their lives. Interesting dude, strange but interesting.

Don’t say too bad. My husband is old enough to remember all those credits and would still pick Kill Bill.

For the Actor who brought to life so many roles, including My favourite as Kwai Chang Caine... you will be missed.

For the few of us who remember his drug-addled rage episodes (not the least of which being his trashing of a neighbors house) which brought down anger, dishonor, and ridicule to the Martial Arts community... you never did fully atone for what you had done.

For the man... as a Christian, I pray that you finally find your peace, and forgiveness in the eyes of our saviour.

Amen.

Enjoyed his performance as Bill. When Black Mamba demonstrated the 5-finger kill technique he never accomplished and she never told him, he looked hurt as well as surprised. I almost felt sorry for him then.

Sad. Somehow it’s not that surprising, though. Carradine never came across as an especially happy person. Prayers for his family.

“Female actor,” isn’t that what’s called an “actress”?

At that age he might very well have suffered a fatal heart attack during it.

I remember him in an interview saying that he was an actor, not a martial artist, and that the fights were choreographed and not real, etc. It's unfortunate that the martial arts community was dishonored because of the behavior of a sham. Or as Ham Sandwich said to Fluke Skystalker, "Shut up, Kid. It's only a movie."

Yes, I remember that about him as well. However, most people never knew that. They simply remembered Kwai Chang Caine and labled the entire martial arts community as similar druggies after that house-trashing episode brought his drug usage to light. Being a martial artist at the time, and going on to teach the art a few years later, I and many others had to deal with the negative image he presented as a result for years afterwards.

Sounds fishy to me, too. Bet there's more to this than what has come out. If an enemy wanted to humiliate him, then they'd strip him naked and hang him in the closet.

RIP, David.
