Who's Wiser, Who's Stupider? -- Confirmation Question for Sotomayor

In 2001, Appeals Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor, now a nominee of President Barack Obama for the U.S. Supreme Court, delivered a lecture at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, -- the Judge Mario G. Olmos Memorial Lecture. Entitled "A Latina Judge's Voice", it included the now notorious statement

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life.

Many have already reacted to this statement, condemning what they perceive as manifest racism, or explaining it as a mere slip of the tongue. Let's take it on its face for what it says. It says that a member of Group A, in this case, wise Latinas, is capable of reaching better conclusions of law than can members of Group B, white males. For the moment, let's not argue the point of whether this assertion is so -- Judge Sotomayor believes it to be so or at least wishes it were so. The statement begs a question that should be revelatory of the actual state the Left's cultural sensibilities.

Modern American society can be sorted into many Groups besides "wise Latinas" and "white males". Obviously, there are stupid Latinas, white females, wise non-Latinas, non-white males. Let's consider some specific Groups:

Clearly, this list can be made infinitely long. But each Group can be said to bring unique perspective, per Judge Sotomayor's assessment, to the decision-making process. Certainly, Americans all would agree that we should have the best and wisest of our citizens on the Supreme Court. Thus, it is critical that the Senate during the confirmation process, explore this analysis with Judge Sotomayor. Are "wise Latinas" the top of the heap; the best that can be had? Would Asian females be better? How about Italian bankers -- are they they wisest? Ok, maybe they should be lawyers. Should we go for Italian lawyers? Would female Italian lawyers be best? It is to be hoped that the Senate Confirmation Committee will elicit from Judge Sotomayora proper rank-ordering of the Groups from which Americans can select so as to insure "better conclusions" from our highest court.

Sotomayor has so many character problems stacked against her...that someone opined she may be a “stalking horse” making the next nominee a shoo-in. Obama testing the waters? Maybe..........
