On D-Day Anniversary, Google Memorializes... Tetris?

On June 6, 1944, the crucial Normandy Landings that formed the spearhead of the Allied invasion of Nazi held Europe occurred. D-Day ultimately led to the victory of the Allies over the despotic Nazi regime. Now here we are on June 6, 2009 and, in its inimitable way, Google has decided to memorialize the important occasion by adding an image on its homepage depicting... the computer game Tetris.

Yes, it's far more important to Google to celebrate the anniversary of the invention of the video game Tetris than to memorialize D-Day. It just warms the heart, doesn't it?

That’s why I use LiveSearch/Bing whenever possible.

(And the little fact that they ‘disappeared’ half a million image search hits on “obama birth certificate” last July)

Someone we know interviewed at Google and after he disclosed he was Christian, the interview process ended abruptly. Google's annual Christmas "artwork"is all-telling about their company. They're Bilderberg associates now, so I reckon that's to be expected given the political environment that organization espouses.

I quit Google long time ago - removed it from my toolbar. Just switched over to “BING” - giving it a try.

Ya...Google can go to hell.

I hate that bing is MS but, it's looking to be a better search engine.

Who cares? Google provides free web search services. Their search page isn't an official location to commemorate important dates in US or world history. Why do people get so worked up over what Google chooses to put in their banners?

LOL Dogpile basically routes search results from Google and Yahoo back to a pretty page with a cartoon-faced dog.

Every Christmas, Easter, D-day, you-name-it, there is one or more posts from
someone foaming at the mouth over Google's little cartoon graphic.

Google is a search engine, that is all I expect it to be.
I don't care what graphics they do or do not display.

Believe it or not, this is not a perfect world and there
will always be parts of it that do not suit you exactly.

Realize this and you will be much happier.
