(AP) North Korea’s state news agency says the country’s top court has convicted two U.S. journalists and sentenced them to 12 years in labor prison.

The Korean Central News Agency says the Central Court tried American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee from June 4 to 8.

It said Monday the trial confirmed an unspecified “grave crime” against the nation, and of illegally crossing into North Korea.

The report says the court “sentenced each of them to 12 years of reform through labor.”

The journalists - working for former Vice President Al Gore’s California-based Current TV - were arrested March 17 as they were reporting about the trafficking of women. It’s unclear if they strayed into the North or were grabbed by aggressive border guards who crossed into China.

Although the Americans were accused of illegally entering North Korea and unspecified “hostile acts,” Pyongyong has yet to publicly announce the exact charges against them. South Korean legal experts have said a conviction for “hostility” or espionage could mean five to 10 years in a labor camp.

U.S. officials and others working for the reporters’ release have said they’ve received no information about the defendants and even lacked independent confirmation about whether the trial has started. The North has said the proceedings wouldn’t be open to foreign observers, including Swedish officials who act as Washington’s proxy in Pyongyang because the two countries do not have diplomatic ties.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday she was “incredibly concerned” about the plight of the two women. In working for their release, Clinton said she has spoken with foreign officials with influence in North Korea and explored the possibility of sending an envoy to the North, but suggested that no one would be sent during the trial

It should be

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday she was “incredibly concerned” about the plight of the two women. In working for their release, Clinton said she has spoken with foreign officials with influence in North Korea and explored the possibility of sending an envoy a convoy to the North, but suggested that no one would be sent during the trial.

I was gonna ask who in this nation would be dumb enough to go into North Korea. I just got my answer. Now for their own and Mr. Gores lack of good judgment what will it cost us the taxpayers to get them back or who's life will be risked in a possible rescue? Just what did they think was going to happen? Liberals are so arrogant and clueless. Sheesh!

Are you ficking kidding me? Perfect selection by Obami.

Johnson + Carter + Clinton + Obama = weakness in the eyes of the bad guys.

Sheesh, if the Earps had been so weak, they would have been destroyed by the Clantons and McLaurys and all their "cowboy" (cattle rustler) co-horts at the time. Instead, they showed strength and cut those frickers down once confronted, in according with the "law of the land". Don't even try to argue, I've read too many books about the Earps.

There are no Earps or Mastersons or Tilghmans or Hickocks left in this Country. We are governed by a bunch of Chamberlain wussy appeasers. Those guys may have been brutal, but that was the times. Still, we need the same kind of strength to this day, although with a little more finesse.

So what to do? Study, learn, and work for your own States' Rights. That's what the Earps did on a smaller scale. They tried to fit in and build a good peaceful productive and self-accountable life, but the bad element (cowboys) tried to stop them as the Earps fought for their small town rights and peace.

Wyatt Earp and the Masterson brothers fought for peace in the then anarchistic Dodge City. Virgil and Morgan Earp (Wyatt later) worked for it in a small town in Arizona. We all know how their efforts for peace and appeasement worked out. They had to destroy those who would not let them live and let live.

Point? Either fight against the bad guys or let them run rabid to the point of no return as almost happened in so many frontier towns. History repeats...no matter the era. Fight or lose everything that is dear. End rant.

Can we trade Chrissy Mathhew’s for them? N. Korea can have his going on American television talking about the tingling up his leg for Der. Leader. Not much of a switch in job requirements from what he’s doing now.

In all seriousness. I pray these two ladies have the strength of Angels and that God blesses an protects them as they try to live through this nightmare.

There is no such thing as "illegal crossing". This is a world of open borders, hasn't Kim Jong heard?
