Obesity is a greater public health hazard than smoking. 30% of the population is obese. Not just overweight but FAT! Obesity adds $15,000-20,000 to the average lifetime healthcare cost. It triples the incidence of cancer, doubles the risk of diabetes, and significantly increases the risk of arthritis, high blood pressure, and coronary disease.

It’s your business, if you overeat and under exercise, but when it starts to cost me money in the form of higher insurance premiums or taxes, it then becomes MY business.

I’m all in favor of these initiatives.

Yep!

I'm in favor of them being enacted in the private sector.

So the solution to higher taxes or insurance premiums is more fascist control over personal decisions?

Wow... how far we’ve fallen when this idea is promoted on a “conservative” site.

Then you deserve whatever tyranny comes your way. It doesn't cost you a dime if someone has health problems because of overeating or being fat, the two things are not necessarily tied together. The "I am for it if it keeps me from having to pay for someone else" meme is just BS. Those are the words of a liberal, not a conservative. I pay for my own health costs, thank you and I want you and the government to stay the he** out of my life.

So then let insurance companies charge the obese policy holder more. How can you be in favor of the government mandating how, when and what a citizen eats or exercises? Where would it stop? This is how they gain power. I guess, in this instance, with your support.

Socialism always leads to fascism. You bemoan the collectivist system and are praising lifestyle dictatorship. Congratulations, you are fully assimilated.

Spoken like a true communist. Karl Marx would be proud. What next? Send all fatties to Gulags or shall we just execute them?

On one hand I am shocked and speechless hearing this on a conservative site. Apparently the apocalypse is upon us.

On the other hand, if I had a dollar for every 300 pound fat woman who waived their sausage like fingers in front of their face to blow away my cigarette smoke and then dove back into their plate of nachos with refried beans, I'd be a billionaire.

I dunno anymore.

Why are you in favor of telling someone else what to do? If you don’t like the expense of covering them, then work to *STOP INSURING THEM*!!!

Then it becomes *THEIR* choice as to whether they want health care or junk food.
