It merely means that the intent wasn't to die.

The intent was to get his rocks off.

I've run into similar decisions with inadvertent deaths due to drugs when the intent was to get high.

Here it's elementary....Mr. Carradine employed the services of a young lady he meet in Thailand, the young lady taught him a new trick, she dressed and tied him up and hung him with the promise of great satisfaction, said young lady was actually a young laddy who after wards bolted leaving behind the various tools of her(his) trade.

Last Friday, police said the actor may have died from accidental suffocation or heart failure after revealing that he was found with a rope tied around his neck and penis — leading to speculation that Carradine may have engaged in a dangerous form of sex play known as auto-erotic asphyxiation.

The family needs to move on. He obviously went too far. It’s tough to blame someone else when no one else entered or left the room before he died. I believe it was an accidental death by Carradine himself.

I could be way off base here, but I have a feeling that this is what the family was looking for all along. I think they were terribly afraid of a ruling of "suicide" as COD. Suicide may have some adverse implications for the insurance payout.

Whatever the case, hopefully Mr. Carradine has found some peace.

I don’t believe an insurance company will pay out on suicide. I’m also not sure that an “accidental” death like THIS, will pay out either. The odds are NOT in their favor. Eventually, something like this will happen - especially if the person is alone ... .
